The Best Christmas Present

This morning we welcomed home US Army PFC Jon Prouse. There was a crowd of over 100 that showed up over a holiday weekend in support of a local hometown hero that has been in Afghanistan for the past 13 months.  Welcome Home Jon and thank you for your service!
We would also like to thank all of our viewers that took time away on such  busy holiday weekend to come out and support a very humble Prouse family.

At least he's safer over there then being here at school.

5:18-I'm sure he was because over there he probably carried a weapon and was surrounded by others carrying weapons.

Dang, he looks like a kid.

8:32 He is a kid. Everyone who has died in war was someones child but when they are so young it really drives home the loss. Sort of like the school shooting. It would be nice if local people could adopt a soldier like was possible years ago. We sent care packages addressed to a NY address and they forwarded them to the troops. We received the nicest notes from the young man we adopted and he loved his care packages from the US.

At the homecoming yesterday there was an organization there that does just what you are talking about. It's called Operation We Care. They make care packages for the troops and send them twice a year. Just type in the name of the organization and add ORG to the end or just Google Operation We Care in Salisbury.

1:16 Most of my life I have been a part of making care pkgs for troops here and abroad. I can't tell you how wonderful it makes me feel. Over the years I have received the kindest letters from whomever received them. Due to the internet it's much easier to stay in touch with these brave men and women. Every three to four months I send an email asking what they need. During the next few weeks I shop for those items and bake homemade favorites they have told me they miss. I always try to send enough for them to share.

Welcome home PFC Jon Prouse and Merry Christmas!
