There's No Excuse For This
The Defense Department could save $7 billion a year if it stopped spending on things like beer-making, according to Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) His new report lists hundreds of non-military goods and services the Pentagon either buys or makes for itself. Coburn cites items such as a workshop entitled, "Did Jesus Die For Klingons." His report calls out big items, too. Coburn thinks the military has one thousand more flag officers than it needs, and too many uniforms doing civilian work.

When it comes to Government spending how much is to much. The listed of wasted spending more than likely is equal too or greater than the necessary or justified spending. With many people suffering economic hardship does it make sense that millions of dollars are spent every year to put flowers in the White House. I know that is a very small thing but think about it. If we can't see a need to better manage spending on the little things what are the chances we will look at the big things? At the end of the day "this @#$% has got to stop".
Waste is waste, this just happens to be one example. They need to go through every dept and program and identify the duplication and stupid things we spend money on and get rid of it.
$7 billion would feed a lot of hungry kids in this country.
