From Our Family to Yours

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.  It is uniquely American.  Thanksgiving is not only a day to spend with family and friends; it is a day we are reminded of how much we have to be thankful for.  Family, good food, good friends, and remembrances of God and all His blessings that are given to us – what a great day!

There is much history surrounding this American holiday as many of our presidents have weighed in with thoughts and proclamations throughout the years.  On January 1, 1795, President George Washington, wrote his famed National Thanksgiving Proclamation, in which he says that it is…

"…our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and to implore Him to continue is… our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and to implore Him to continue and confirm the blessings we experienced…"

I wish you and your family a wonderful day together.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Sandy who are still struggling with the destruction left by this storm.  We also pray for those less fortunate than ourselves as we give thanks to God for all He has given us.

God bless you and your family,

Andy Harris, M.D.

Thank you Andy. We will never hear that from Obama.
