Former Prisoner’s Lawsuit Against Jail Dismissed

SNOW HILL -- A federal judge earlier this month completely dismissed a civil suit filed by a former Worcester County Jail prisoner against the facility, its administrators and certain members of its medical staff, claiming he was cruelly and maliciously denied medical treatment.

Last March, James A. Stanley, a prisoner who was extradited to Worcester County from Colorado in 2011, filed suit in U.S. District Court against the Worcester County Jail, Wardens Garry Mumford and Kathleen Green and certain members of the jail’s medical staff alleging he was denied medical treatment for chronic illnesses and other ailments including multiple sclerosis during his trip across the country and later during his seven-month stay in Worcester before being transferred to a state facility.

In the suit, Stanley alleged he was diagnosed with MS during a stay in a correctional facility in Colorado after suffering numerous seizures, loss of vision and other debilitating symptoms. Stanley was diagnosed and treated for MS including prescriptions, tests and evaluations while in the Colorado correctional system. In 2011, Stanley was extradited to Worcester County on the way to his ultimate destination at the Eastern Correctional Institute in Somerset County.

12 days and 38 states, what were they sight seeing?

How does a non-stop trip from Colorado to Snow Hill take 12 days and pass through 38 states?

Stanley was brought back to MD for 11 active warrants. A private prisoner transport company was used to bring him back and he was not the only prisoner in the vehicle.

Not the only prisoner in the vehicle? Still, that means he had to travel every state except 12. Okay, he probably didn't hit Hawaii or Alaska, and if we leave out Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Montana because they are west of Colorado then the prisoner transport company is really, really stupid if they hit all the rest of the states. Did he really go to Maine, Florida, Louisiana, New Hampshire or even Delaware? Something smells here.

Your right. something does smell that good ol boy connection. no 1 in this area could sue a jail or the government in anyway. can't even find a lawyer to take a case here have to go to Baltimore. our local government needs a complete overhaul

11:46....here a clue --- EVERY government entity --- every one, from local to federal --- needs an "overhaul" or "overthrow", depending upon if you work for a living or not. I'm going with overthrow. As are MILLIONS of other totally disgusted Americans. The "spark" will set it off, sooner or later. THAT, people, is an historical inevitability....
