Smucker’s Uncrustables Sandwiches Recalled Over Peanut Butter Salmonella Worries

Smucker's Uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sold to school lunch programs in the United States are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination, Smucker’s spokeswoman Maribeth Badertscher said in an email Thursday.
The J.M. Smucker Co. used peanut butter that was produced by Sunland Inc. and supplied by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in “limited production runs” of 72-count bulk packs of the sandwiches that went to schools under the National School Lunch Program.
The peanut butter in the sandwiches was produced by Sunland Inc., which closed its Portales, N.M. plant last month and recalled more than 200 peanut products made under a variety of brand names after salmonella was discovered in Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, the Associated Press reported.
