MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - President Barack Obama said Friday the latest employment report shows that the economy is not creating jobs "as fast as we want," but he pledged that the economy will improve.
"We will come back stronger. We do have better days ahead," Obama said at a Golden Valley, Minn., Honeywell plant where the company has taken steps to hire veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The president was responding to the government's jobs report for May, which showed that only 69,000 jobs were added during the month. That was the fewest in a year, as the unemployment rate increased to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in April.
Obama, in a tight re-election campaign against Republican Mitt Romney, said the economy still faces a number of challenges, including Europe's debt crisis and higher gas prices, which have hurt families.

Okay, so you admit that for over 3 years the things you have been doing have not worked, and in fact, things are starting another downhill slide.
So, now you want to raise taxes 500 billion? Great idea. Hey, I know,, let's print up some more stimulous money and throw it at... oh, I dunno, maybe that Honeywell plant to hire veterans just because they're veterans. Not that they know anything about what that plant makes... they just need to punch in every morning to make you look good. Yeah, that will get the economy going; doing the same crap you've been doing for the last three years and ecpectting a different result.
This is the same crap he's been feeding us for 3 years and he expects people to continue to believe it? Only the a blind, stupid kool-aide drinker would continue to fall for it. But I know that there are still a few that haven't figured it out.
More commie propaganda from the liar-in-chief.
And don't forget it's all Bush's fault. tehe...that continued accusation alone should get him booted out.
I give Romney about a year and a half and this whole economy will be in a complete turnaround.
The three things that need to be done to the federal government to turn this "thing" around;
1. Balanced Budget. This is a no brainer. The only reason there is not a budget right now, is because one that would zero out would be killed in the senate.
2. Rebuild the EPA. We need regulation for environmental standards. We do not need a 4th branch of government. The EPA should become a caucus of the house and senate with a 50/50 partisan split.
3. Regulate the medical field. If we turn down the disgrace that is Obamacare and replace it with true reform of our medical system. We will end up better as a country if we limit the fees that may be charged for a service in medicine. No offense to the doctors that read this, but $475 to review my X-Ray is ridiculous.
I am typically against any type of regulation of society, but we need to reign in the doctors.
Obama has had his chance, not even a glimmer of hope, much like the Ireton administration.
Obama's word cannot be trusted as shown in what he has said vs. what he has done in the past 3+ years. He MUST go!
And the Chuck Cook's and Jim Ireton's believe it.
If Romney gets elected, he'll still never come out of the closet. Don't worry about him, save yourselves.
We live among idiots when Obama raises more money on the shore than all republicans combined!
7:45 what exactly are you saying? We shouldn't have health care reform (obamacare) but we should have health care reform? I don't like to say personal comments but that is moronic. "Obamacare" is government regulation to control and lower health care prices. You don't agree with that particular regulation, then what do you agree with?
