You think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free. Remember laws can be made and laws can be changed. We all must work now to vote the liberal bastards out of Congress and this health care can be overturned. The Government now has real time access to your banking accounts. It's in that law I believe it's page 59, sections 21-24.

The market should tumble. It is one of the things that has screwed over the average working person.

Why is gas high? The market.
Why did the housing bubble burst? The market

Etc, etc, etc.

The reasong the country is screwed over is becuase of greed. And greed can only sustain itself for so long.

MARK MY WORDS....

What a sad day. What will be worse will be when Obama gets re-elected. There are too many people on the dole. So, why would they bite the hand that feeds them. Another 4 years of his tenure and you will not recognize this country anymore. Oh, and Maryland will pass the Dream Act.

Anonymous said...

I believe there will be a strong overthrow of everything democratic in the next few elections.

Democrats will go down in history as being responsible for the biggest tax hike in American history.

I also firmly believe that if americans wake up and realize the consequences of this they will change things. Only problem is that will take a couple of decades.

Anonymous said...

how did they vote?

Anonymous said...

To quote a supreme court justice - they are not final because they are infallible, they are infallible because they are final.

Disagree with the decision but we have to live with it. Make sure to get out the vote so we can get people into office to repeal the law to keep America solvent.

Anonymous said...

the vote went 5-4 with Roberts being the swing.

Anonymous said...

I guess if you can't afford food now you can just go to the hospital and fake an illness so they can feed you.

Anonymous said...

listen to what is being said.

1. the states can opt out and 26 states have already opted out by "suing" the government against ocare. more states will opt out because they won't be able to afford to stay in. this will weaken the entire law.
2.it's fired up the "conservatives" and this will be a negative for o.
3. when romney is sworn in he will repeal all. this needs to be done so we can get a much better law and one that will be best for the American people and the nation.
4. just remember, whatever the government "gives" you they can take away at the drop of a pin. if you think the government is your friend, you're a fool.

Anonymous said...

This will never be repealed by Congress. They will never give up the power they have now acquired..You can vote left or right it will not matter..

Anonymous said...

Well actually they DID NOT rule it to be Constitutional. They upheld it by saying that Congress does have the right to pass a tax, which this really is.
Those who DO NOT purchase or contribute to some type of health insurance, will be penalized (they are now referring to it as a tax) by the IRS who will deduct from your tax returns. So those you who get refunds and have no health insurance, may not be getting anymore tax refunds.
Incidently the lawyers who argued before the states high courts in favor of this argued that it WAS NOT a tax.

Anonymous said...

11:15 You are wrong. The people will speak in November. The people in power now may not be the people in power after the election. All liberal Democrats must go!

Anonymous said...

I don't understand what everyone's so upset about. This law makes people who don't have insurance pay. Why does everyone say that it's about "free" health care? You all understand that before Obamacare when someone without insurance went to the hospital we ended up paying for it anyway? I wish everyone would take a deep breath and actually educate themselves before they start screaming whatever pablum the talk show hosts are puking up. The government makes us buy car insurance, don't they? We don't riot in the streets over that.

Anonymous said...

11:23
Driving is considered a privilege not a right.

Anonymous said...

I think people are upset because never ever before in the history of this country have the citizens been forced to buy anything,
11:23. That's the real issue-Can the government MAKE people buy something.
Now if you DO NOT contribute to your health insurance costs you have an IRS problem.

Anonymous said...

11:23

How about the 11 to 15 million illegals that work for cash. Are they mysteriously going to stop going to the hospital? Are they going to start paying the TAX?
And the car insurance analogy is really weak. The gov't, in this case state gov.t can make you have insurance because having a car is a privilage. If you decide you don't want to have insurance you simply get rid of your car. You are not TAXED or fined if you don't have a car

Anonymous said...

I don't drive therefore I am not required to have auto insurance...yet

Anonymous said...

11:23, the car insurance arguement doesn's hold water-no one is forced to get the auto that requires insurance in most states.

Anonymous said...

11:23 People are not required by law to drive. So your statement has now value in this conversation. Go stick your head back in the sand, Or wherever you stick it!

Anonymous said...

11:40
Good point. What does happen if an illegal now goes to the hospital. Since they will not have insurance *not that they have it not* will they still be treated? Will they be taken ahead of someone else that is being forced to pay for this healthcare? Seems like they still will get free healthcare while the rest of us foot the bill.

Anonymous said...

All those Republicans that got elected in 2010 said they were going to repeal this law......and then silence. Same thing will happen again after all the empty speeches.

Anonymous said...

No matter what all of you guys/gals say, 11:23am is right. I'm tired of paying free floaters medical trip to the emergency room. The poor and illegal immigrants abuse this privilege by going to the emgency room for treatment and foot the bill to hard working middle class families.
I'm tired of paying other folks medical bills. Let them purchase there own health insurance.

Anonymous said...

How are people below the poverty level supposed to afford insurance? It's a great question and I'll bet the answer is they can't and they won't...You and I as working Americans will pick up that tab still...Nothing has changed

Anonymous said...

It is not just the poor and illegals that abuse the medical system. Many are working people who just don't want to buy insurance and then rack up the medical bills that we all pay for.

Anonymous said...

We have fund raisers right and left here for people who choose not to buy insurance. Now it will be mandatory, good.

June 28, 2012 12:00 PM"

This is the point. Contrary to popular belief Republicans/conservatives do care about the "working poor", who will be majorly effected by this. They will have less money coming to them which may cause them to not be able to pay other critical bills such as utilities, car payment, etc.
More people will end up having to go on some type of entitlement-renter assistance, food stamps, free lunch program.

Sounds good on paper that everyone will have to pay for their health care but the end result will be more paid out by the govenment in other entitlements.

There are some people( I am one of them) who believe that BASIC health care is a right and not a privilege in a civilized society. I don't want to pay for certain services that our government provides, yet I have no choice but to pay taxes. Like it or not, we ALREADY all pay big money to pay for those folks who don't have insurance but get health care. Do you really think that those who will be exempt under Obamacare aren't costing us now? This law simply mandates that those who can afford to pay should help pay for healthcare.

Anonymous said...

I think it is awesome--a great day for America, as will be verified 20 years from now when we look back at this day. Y'all would change your perspective quick if you actually looked at the legislation piece by piece. When broken down into its components, the vast majority of Americans say they are in favor of the vast majority of the provisions. That is a fact.

Anonymous said...

Wake up folks. If you remember Obama had to bribe 3 state senators to get them to vote for this law for passage. Next will be your guns so you will not be able to protect yourself or family. Wake up people before it's to late or all your choices will be gone.

Anonymous said...

About 46.2 million people are now considered to be living at the poverty level...How are they supposed to pay for health insurance????

Another "sounds good on paper" argument but the fact stands that all people do not make enough money to be able to afford this without having to go on some other type of govenment system. It's a "Peter and Paul" type of problem, sure they will be paying for their health care, but then will most likely have to apply for some type of govenment assistance.

The bottom line, is this was not a well thought out plan. It was rushed though without proper thought and consideration.

Anonymous said...

All this amounts to is more money in the pockets of the insurance companies and that's what it was meant to be all about. The insurance industry controls the democrats in congress and Obama.
If this truly were about affordable health care for all, they would have expanded Medicaid and it's pay in system.
Don't be fooled.

Anonymous said...

None of the arguments make sense. Health premiums rise with or without this law. You know why? Because people without health insurance still go to hospitals when they are ill and can't afford to pay. Then the hospitals have to charge that off. The government pays for some of that (which causes citizens to pay for it through taxes) and then the hospital raises costs to cover the rest. Insurance companies then have to pay more due to the increased hospital costs and they recover their costs by increasing premiums. So you were paying for free healthcare before and you may have to pay for it now. So technically nothing changed. I was paying for the uninsured anyway through charge offs so its no different now.

Anonymous said...

Obama's reasoning is with millions more people paying premiums to health insurance providers, the premium costs will go down because alot of those people will not use the insurance.

Anonymous said...

oh and remember, this gives the IRS/government real-time access to your bank accounts now too.

Anonymous said...

1:12: It is human nature to use that which has been given to you or in this case to use what one purchases either voluntarily or by force. And when everyone starts using it; the laws of supply and demand begin to dictate prices..so keep dreaming that no one will use it...They are paying for it, they're gonna use it.

Maybe 1:29. I've been paying CareFirst since 1981 and have literally used it once.
My spouse also doesn't take advantage of the diagnostics, nor did/does our parents who are all in their 90's.
I also know quite a few other people who never go to the doctor. One is almost a hundred years old and in excellent health both physically and mentally and hasn't been to the doctor in almost 70 yrs when she had her son.

Hide your money under or in between a fire proof mattress. Cloase those bank accounts. I'mm tired of paying other folks right off medical bills.

Here is why this decision is wrong/inappropriate.

First - this challenge was brought to the SC as a challenge to the legislation based on the commerce clause. For the Supreme Court to determine that it is constitutional because it is a tax is shocking.

In order to have standing to challenge a tax based on constitutionality, the tax must have been levied. This is based on the statutory construction of Congress' anti-injuction act I believe, but is also present in relevant case law, and is a commonly taught principle of standing in constitutional law classes.

The SC essentially said, because the language of the statute defined the mandate as a penalty and not a tax, that it was not subject to the anti-injunction statute, and that they had standing to rule of the issue preemptively before an injury had been suffered by the levying of the tax.

The problem with this analysis is that they rule it is not a tax for the purpose of the anti-injunction act, but that it IS A TAX for the purpose of constitutionality. Clearly ignoring the plain language of the law in order to effectuate their purpose.

The court should have ruled the law unconstitutional as written, and then stated that it may be constitutional as a tax, but that they cannot decide that issue until it is passed as a tax and levied as such. This would have invalidated the law and required it to be re-passed as a tax. The Court (as it has done often in the past) crafted the precedent cited to get their desired end result. Either the law is a tax and constitutional, but not subject to challenge until levied under the anti-injunction act, or it is not a tax, and unconstitutional under the commerce clause as the dicta in the opinion states.

Terrible ruling by SCOTUS.

Obama had a Justice inform him about the win before it came out and that is why he hired all those IRS agents to get you for the money they want!

Excuse me, apparently alot of you guys have health insurance and haven't been on the other side of the fence. For those of us that don't, we without insurance get stuck with thousands worth for a hospital bill because most doctors won't see you if you don't have insurance. Further more, when you have health insurance and visit a doctor, the insurance company tells the doctor what they are going to pay the doctor. When you don't have insurance, you have to pay the full cost, not to mention, find funds for prescriptions. If anything should be changed, it should involve the insurance companies themselves, those are the ones whose pockets are getting lined with this bill. With that being said, everyone in this country just got f*****

Romney says he will appoint Supreme Court Justices in the mold of John Roberts. Republicans are so screwed.

Ok 5:16. You said, "For those of us that don' have health insurance". If you don't have health insurance and have a computer so you can make comments on this page, then your priorities are wrong. Whatever you spend each month to a server you could put towards health care. You are stupid!

Go ahead and vote for Obama again, next he will be taking your gun rights away. That's where he's heading.
