As far as older movies Tora, Tora Tora. New I'd have to say The Hurt Locker is really good.

with out a doubt "a thin red line". Both of my grandfathers agreed it was the most realistic they have seen.

Shaving Ryan's Privates was the best!
while not a movie, the HBO series"Band of Brothers" is my favorite.Saving Private Ryan is pretty darn good too.
Both mini series the North and South. I to am a big fan of the Civil War.
