As a nomadic people, most Native Americans, had no concept of land ownership. That's why Manhatten was such a bargain, they got paid for something they did not even realize could be owned. Land and everything on it was a gift from the Great Spirit, a gift to everyone. We have taken everything from them that gave them their identity...language, culture, etc. It is great to see some still fighting to preserve the last remnants.
