Two children died in a crash on Route 50 east of the Beltway Friday night, Prince George's County Fire confirmed.
The accident involving three vehicles happened after 9 p.m. on Friday, near Martin Luther King Highway.
According to police, Gloria Vindel of Glenarden was driving a Honda Accord in the left lane of eastbound Route 50 when she crashed into the rear of an Isuzu Axiom, driven by 43-year-old Mahmoud Sesay. Two children were in the backseat of Vindel's car.
The two drivers stopped in the left lane of Route 50, and Sesay got out of his vehicle to talk with Vindel. While the two spoke, a third car, a Mercury Marquis driven by William Lewis of Bowie, crashed into the back of Vindel's Honda.
The Honda, pushed into the center median of Route 50, burst into flames. Two children, 11-year-old Anthony Vindel and 2-year-old Delonte McKie Jr., were trapped inside the vehicle. An earlier report indicated one of the children was in a car seat.
Several motorists, including two off-duty police officers and a volunteer firefighter, attempted to rescue the children from the car, but were unable to because of the extreme heat. They both died in the fire.

How do you come to that conclusion? You are quick to judge condemn and punish without knowing any of the facts or circumstances.
Unless there is personal injury there are required to move the vehicles off the road if possible. Not in a travel lane.
The woman whose children died started the whole thing by hitting someone from the rear.
Not that any of that matters to me as much as the loss of life, especially children.
what a tragic thing for all those there to have had to witness. so sad.
