Perry Loves States Rights, Doesn’t Care About Gay Marriage in New York

Even though he calls himself an “unapologetic social conservative,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he’s so dedicated to states’ rights that the state of New York’s approval of gay marriage is fine by him.

Perry opposes gay marriage, but said that the 10th Amendment, which gives power not afforded to the federal government to state governments, is more important than his personal beliefs.

“Our friends in New York six weeks ago passed a statute that said marriage can be between two people of the same sex. And you know what? That’s New York, and that’s their business, and that’s fine with me,” Perry told top Republican donors in at an event in Colorado.

His position is correct but it seems the left wing states who choose extremist positions are always the same states who need more federal dollars in aid which is unfair to the rest of the union.

WRONG, 10:04!

Southerners get back a whole lot more than they give in taxes.

America's wealth is, indeed, being redistributed -- from what the independent Tax Foundation calls the "giving states" of New York, New Jersey, New England, most of the northeast and California -- to the "receiving states" consisting of all of the south and, ironically, Alaska.

For example, those poor socialists in New Jersey only get back $0.56 on the tax dollar. But for every tax dollar Mississippi sends to Washington they get back $2.02, more than doubling their money! That's a Madoff return paid by the "giving states." Same for Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, West Virginia, Rand Paul's Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina. Then, of course, there is Alaska.

Get your facts straight!

DSA you can't Bull S@#$ your way through the facts.
The five states in the worst financial condition--Illinois, New York, Connecticut, California and New Jersey--are all among the bluest of blue states.

He is correct. It is a state's rights issue. However, there is a law that marriages that are deemed legal in one state are recognized by the other states as well. This is how 15 yr olds getting married in NC (where it is legal) are also viewed as being married (and therefore eligible for benefits) in states where marrying people 15 would not be legal. So there is an issue here of how non-gay marriage states should/can react to legal gay marriages from other states.
