One Killed, One Injured in Motorcycle Crash

New Castle- A 37 year old New Castle man has died after being involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash late last night.

The incident, which is currently being investigated by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit, occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. last night. Investigators learned that Anthony Brooks, Jr., was operating a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle and was traveling southbound on New Castle Avenue at an apparent high rate of speed. As Brooks attempted to make a left hand turn onto eastbound Lambson’s Lane, he lost control of the motorcycle and traveled in a southeast direction. The motorcycle then struck the concrete curb and several concrete pillars. Both Anthony Brooks, Jr., and his 19 year old male passenger were ejected from the bike. Brooks, Jr., who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was turned over to the medical examiners office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The 19 year old male passenger, who was wearing a helmet, was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated for his non life-threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are being considered as factors in this crash. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
