GOP Presidential Candidates Court Votes in Maryland

It's a long way from New Hampshire or Iowa, and Maryland's primary is 10 months away, but a growing number of Republicans are beginning to make pit stops in the Old Line State as the race for the GOP presidential nomination gets under way.

In the past three weeks, Maryland voters have gotten an up-close look at Republican candidates, possible candidates and party bigwigs, including pizza magnate Herman Cain, tea party star Sarah Palin and the top GOP budget maker in Congress, Rep. Paul Ryan.

And with the 2012 nomination battle under way, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is scheduled to hold a fundraiser Thursday in Baltimore for his presidential campaign. I'll predict a Herman Cain/ Ron Paul ticket given the present list of choices...

So Bullard, you are predicting the the GOP will nominate a ticket with no chance of winning?

Getting 20% of the vote is easy with pretty much any of the current GOP field. Getting to 51% will require a bit more inclusion and acceptance of others.

The Tea Party wants a President who will do only what the Tea Party thinks are good things. A President must appeal to, and govern, everyone.

On another note: I do not thing anyone can accuse the Baltimore Sun of being overly Liberal in its reporting of this story. About Gingrch, the author writes:

"The architect of the 1994 Republican Revolution, whose presidential effort has gotten off to a wobbly start,...."

Wobbly start? Is that how we are describing train wrecks nowadays?

Dan,

I'm not suggesting winning tickets here, just thinking that these two are the closest to constitutionalists/ Tea partiers out of the bunch that seems willing to throw their hats in the ring.
Perry could possibly change things if he were to step in...
Maybe I should just go ahead and run this year!
