Some Blacks See Racism In 'Birther' Questions

Shortly after President Barack Obama declared himself an American-born citizen with papers to prove it, Baratunde Thurston declared himself a disgusted black man.

"I find it hard to summarize in mere words the amount of pain and rage this incident has caused," Thurston said.

"This" would be the nation's first black president standing in the White House, blue power suit and all, going on TV to debunk, in more detail than before, the persistent, he-ain't-really-an-American rumors fanned anew by Donald Trump, the developer and might-be presidential candidate.

"Some blacks"? More like most blacks and most Americans with any sense of decency. There is no question that this entire issue is racial. These "racist" can not accept that a black man is in the White House or that he was elected President of the United States. They will do or say anything to marginalize this man. It's disgraceful.

"Hand outs for me" should be the article title

why does everything have to do with racism? that is the easiest way out to try and make people shut up we as white americans can't say anything what happened to freedom of speech.. oh im sorry I guess i can't say that either.....

This is no more racial than snow being white. Maryland MVA does not accept a Maryland issued Certificate of Birth for a 16 year old to get their driving permit. You have to buy a Birth Certificate an take to MVA to get their permit. I had to go through this with my youngest. If this is wrong contact me with proof since that means I have a discrimination suit against MVA. SO why should the President of the United States present theirs. The President started his campaign by saying he was from Kansas and taken to Hawaii when he was young when his Mother and Grand Parents moved there. His own words and claims creates questions. If you going to believe in his retoric on hope and change then believe in all his retoric and not pick and chose.

They can't scream racism rightfully. One of the lead men trying to oust this man is Alan Keys a black man himself. The real racism is the people who continually back a traitor because of his skin color, reguardless of his actions.

Thank you, 12:12. As far as I know, there was no question about the first 42 Presidents (Cleveland is #22 and #24) as to their birthplace. The fact that we have all the questions about #44 is primarily due to Obama himself, not to racism. If he had been forthcoming as soon as the doubt arose, he could have put the issue to rest. It was an aunt (I believe) in Kenya who asserted that Obama was born there and that she saw him just after delivery. Is she lying? If so, why? We kept hearing so many conflicting things about Kansas, Hawaii, Indonesia, Kenya that, of course, doubts arose. After over two years in office and with Donald Trump bringing the "birther" issue forward, Obama finally produced a certificate. Now there are questions--as many of us would have--as to its authencity. It's funny that it took all this time, and he finally came up with "proof" to shut the questioners up. We can always be sure that someone is going to attach racism to any attack on a black person. How sad!

Are you serious? Racism? It's called if there was nothing to begin with, then why wait so long? That's just called being ignorant where I come from. Obama did this to himself.

He is the PRESDIENT we should be able to have any info we want oh I"M sorry because he's black we can't ask questions THAN YOU KNOW WHAT MAYBE HE SHOULD OF THOUGHT BEFORE HE RAN FOR OFFICE THESE THINGS WERE GONNA COME UP OR MAYBE HE BANKS ON EVERYTIME HE OPENS HIS MOUTH HE CAN STAND BEHIND THE RACE CARD NOW THAT"S SAD!!

It's not totally racism. Whites voted for him too. But after over 2 years it's plain to see he sucks at being president. That's not racism, that's what some say is the truth. To which I also subscribe.

Why is it racism when people of color don't get their way? Aren't as smart as others? Can't do a job as well as others? Can't be responsible as others? Can't be as peaceful as others?

Or maybe it's not that they can't, it's that they won't.

Anybody who disagrees with a black person is called a racist...blah blah blah.

Lets not forget that there were 8 years of trash that has to be cleaned up first. 2 wars a failing economy and a shrinking dollar. All this was inherited by the president. No matter who was elected president they would still have the unpopular job of BUSH WHACKING their way through the mess . Black ,White or any other color this day and time I do'nt think anyones going to be satisfied. A racist is having a feeling of hate for no reason. From what I have read you have your reasons but I have yet to find one. I have been commanded to love my brother regardless of his short comings .

WAAAAAAAAA still crying!

I knew that question like this would bring out the true colors of most of you idiots. You can spin it any way you want, or hide from the "undertones". The continued question about the birthplace of THIS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is continually being raised because there are some people who cannot fathom the fact that the leader of the free world is not "100 percent white" whatever that means. Shame on you

Oh my goodness. You people make me ashamed of my race. JUST LISTEN TO YOURSELVES! The man would have never been able to run for the office if he was not eligible. He has proved that be was born on American soil. Did you know that McCain was born in Panama?? Didn't hear too much about that when he was running? How petty of us to latch onto something so trivial to delegitimatise (I'll give you a sec to pronounce it) this man's presidency!

I don't think anyone cares what color he is now. But they do care about what he is doing/not doing.

12:56 PM

If he had removed all doubt about eligibility while running, this conversation wouldn't be happening.

McCain? Where you been? He was dragged through the news mud about Panama and proven eligible. Bad anomaly on your part.

Sorry to hear you think the constitution is trivial. I'm sure your race is ashamed of you as well.

I borrowed a quote that pretty much sums up your 'bushwhacking'.

Obama's argument is totally baseless. It is like he wants us to believe that he has been powerless since he became President. During the first year of his term, he was the most powerful President since 1977. He and his party controlled it all. They could have done anything they really wanted to do.

They could have raised taxes on the rich, closed any and all tax loopholes, eliminated tax breaks for corporations, repealed the prescription drug plan and ended the wars. He had all the power he needed and more, and he did nothing to address any of these issues. It is, therefore, a blatant lie to blame someone else for problems that he had total power to eliminate.

He chose to spend his time on Obamacare, stimulus spending, and Dodd-Frank. He chose to ignore all these issues that he now deceitfully blames on everyone besides himself and his party.

His illogical, baseless arguments penetrate the ears of the ignorant and Obama worshippers, and no one else. Sadly, nearly half the country falls into one of those two categories.

Every day the Federal Government borrows another $4 billion. Every day the opportunity to fix all the problems he keeps talking about becomes more and more difficult. The growing national debt and interest payments on the debt keep growing and consuming more and more tax dollars, leaving less and less to spend on everything else.

Barak Obama is a fantastic campaigner (deceiver) and an absolute disaster as a chief executive. He is the worst President in my lifetime.

That's the problem with having a black President anytime you question or say something bad, it's considered rascism, get over it and move on.

In 1961, we had typewriters, pen and ink, fountain pens, a few copiers around, and they were just beginning work on electronic calculators. Everything electronic was analog.

Now, after 2.5 years, the Whitehouse produces a birth certificate of the President in 9 layers of digital pixellized .pdf Adobe Illustrator!

There was no such thing back then!!!!
