8 to 1 in favor of the protesters.

They might be legal but lacking in taste.

Ok. So be it. If this should happen around here, myself, and some of my friends, yes us old farts, will show up and kick some butt. What a discrase to a Veteran and those who currently serve. With this court, the issue of Obama and his birth cirtificate will never be heard. Wake up people. We have a problem.

I hope it does happen here it will be more than a court case

I, too, would join whatever group it was to stop these people from disgracing a fellow military member, if it took place here.
Do these people have no feeling for a family who has lost their child, their father, broher or just friend. What a bunch of idiots.

And so them speak. We should join together and protest them and if a few get their butts handed to them on a plate - well so be it.

God Bless our Military.

I would love to run into these idiots on the street.....

Former Army SSG of 3 deployments with 10th Mountain Div.

This is hard to believe. I know that the Bill of Rights affords freedom of speech, but should that freedom be unbridled? All of the ruckus st a serviceman's funeral that will be created by these sick church people and those who protest their presence will turn a sad occasion into one so much sadder. This Supreme Court decision is incredible.

If it were a loved one of mine, trust me Ill take the charges. Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do, this would be one of those times.

I agree with right to free speech but I disagree with their tasteless delivery. They showed no respect for the people mourning. Having an opinion and sending a message is fine but show some decorum.

This is one of the cases where liberty turns to license--due to self-government. The supreme court is just affirming that it not up to them, but the protesters.

Would you feel that way if it were your wife, husband or child?

So. If I said Obama was a muslim, and a liar, and put a sign in my own yard, would I be arrested? Let'ssee what happens.

7:28 - you can put that sign up. Now, Pres. Obama may sue you for libel, but I doubt he'd bother. The only ones who would want you arrested would be members of your Homeowner's Association, should you belong to one. Otherwise, there's no law against being stupid in America.

Now, wearing an anti-war t-shirt to a George W. Bush parade? That will get you arrested. There's plenty of evidence for that.

And the justices that voted for this were mostly appointed by Republican presidents.

Are you prepared if it all fails? Never thought you would ever have to ask yourself that huh?

Look at those evil bitches taunting a fallen hero's family. Where's Jack the Ripper when you need him?

8:28 Ok. I do not belong to a home owners association. I do not need someone else to tell me how to live or that I can not display an eagle nest in my yard. Take a seat in the back of the room. Better then that, give your seat to an American.

While I understand that the first amendment protects speech (and it really protects evil speech because nobody will protest good , kind speech), it is more than painful to know that these evil ones will continue to harass good families of patriots. My real concern is that a good and decent law abiding citizen will go to jail for the rest of their lives because they were pushed beyond their rational thinking to take one of more of these proptesters out! That to me would be a bigger crime than the painful, henious speech that these families endure.

I firmly believe, If this group of haters shows up in this area, where will be a wall of citizens between them and a Vets funeral.

EdenMan, they were here and I was right in the middle of it taking pictures when all hell broke loose. Best time I ever had in this news business. Watched those pussies run like little girls.

They were in Seaford, DE. protesting TWO Soldier deaths.

Westboro Baptist Church is roughly 100 members strong. Over 80% of that membership is family to Fred Phelps Sr., the organizations founder. Phelps was actually admitted to WEST POINT after gradutating High School at age 16. He decided not to attend after attending a Methodist Revival. The church openly operates a website www.godhatesamerica.com. They fly the American flag upside down, or rip it to shreds any chance they can. Meanwhile, they utilize the American Legal System, and hide behind the American Constitution to spread their message of hatred. Meanwhile the men and women who stand proud to defend all of this (them included), are the ones who they disgrace. Their families are the ones who they torture. If you hate something so much, why would you utilize what it offers you? That would be like someone protesting the slaughtering of cows, while chewing on a cheese burger from McDonald's...
