A neighbor took this photo a few days ago and sent it to me explaining the story. The County actually posted a Construction Zone Warning sign at the development entrance and dispatched an army of County workers to repair a broken Rainbird sprinkler head. The Sprinkler head was damaged by a County snow plow during the snow removal after the last storm.
Mark and I have replaced many of these same type Rainbird sprinkler heads - by our lonesome selves - and are normally equipped with just a hand shovel and rake.
Wicomico County dispatched a half-a-million dollars of equipment - (an excavator, two dump trucks, pick-up) - and an army of County personel that would normally take a private sector working man just 30 minutes to perform the repair.
We really do have some serious problems in Wicomico County.

Heads should roll for this! They are purposely running up expenditures to vaporize any money in the budget.....only so they can ask for more!!!!
seriously???
What idiot dispatched this work order?
Our County Tax Dollars at work.
This is such a waste of our tax dollars. I hope the county council reads this article! The county needs to TRIM THE FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What time of day was it? Did they have another job to go to after this one that required the manpower and equipment used here? There are 3 sides to every story. This is just partial information on one.
It's seriously time to decide if this executive layer of government is worth what it costs the taxpayers.
Let's work on a referendum to abolish the executive branch at the next election.
whose house? good question, huh?
Delaware, Oh Delaware, why dont you cut your loses and come to the first state, Oh Delaware, Oh Delaware.
This happens all the time. City workers repairing a 4'x4' hole, required 8 men, two dump trucks, one front end loader, one asphalt roller, two supervisors and two pick up trucks. All of this and they don't understand why they are losing their jobs, benefits getting cut, furloughs, taxpayers angry over the wasted money, etc.

Better to ask questions than to automatically assume what you do not know. Most would rather be an ASSuming kind of person.
I repaired 3 irrigation heads in this same neighborhood last Friday that were ripped up by Co snow plow. Why are they allowed to drive up over the curb and onto lawns all through there? Buy the way it took me 30 mins for 3 heads, cpl parts and a shovel....$30. It would cost taxpayers far less if they called a company like mine.
Puddle Duck Irrigation
Is this for real? It can't be?? Why on earth would they do something so blatantly obvious that is a huge waste of tax dollars? I hope this is a hoax!
Last week I saw an a sprinkler head being replaced. It took 6 workers. Of which 2 arrived 3 hours prior to the rest of them arriving. They just sat in their truck and ate and smoked until the "full crew arrived. They they took out their signs and put them up. 5 hours later a new sprinkler head was fixed. It was like watching a circus in town.
i saw the same thing happen on waste gate rd as post 3.19 took all afternoon to replace one sprinkler
2:41, I am glad that you are perfect. When you have 6-10" of snow on a road, it is not exactly easy to know where the edge of the road is. Especially in subdivisions with tons of culdesacs. Besides being an expert irrigator, are you also an expert snow plower? This picture is not what is portrayed. These guys are not fixing sprinkler heads. Yard damage...maybe. They probably stopped to fix this yard because it was in the vicinity of a larger job nearby.
Is this a joke???? As a county taxpayer, I fail to see the humor. Has anyone asked the county to explain?
well, one thing you cannot deny is a picture is worth a thousand words!only thing that needs to be done is turn there shirt/coat pockets upside down so they do not have to lean on the shovels they can prop them in there pocket

experience?
This is one of the worse cases of Waste, Fraud, & Abuse that this County has seen since the landfill caper.
Who in their right mind would dispatch such an army of personnel to repair a sprinkler head. If any of the County Council were to see this I'm sure it would raise the hair on the backs of their necks.
maybe they didnt want them standing around the shop talking, laughing and carrying on like school kids. send them all to a job to get some peace and quiet. yuck yuck yuck
