Now city officials are attempting to borrow the money (as if Salisbury didn’t have a large enough debt already). However, they are attempting to sell taxpayers the notion that they won’t have to pay the money back.
This past week the city decided to take possession of the environmentally challenged (I’m in a charitable mood this morning) “Linens of the Week” property. We were promised that the city would secure “Brownfield Grants” to handle demolition and environmental remediation.
Yet, according to our own local paper, environmental grants are one of the first things on the chopping block as the Democrat dominated state government attempts to cover up its decades of profligacy. This leaves …? That’s right, Obama money! There’s just one problem; we had an election last November and the Obama / Pelosi / Reid troika doesn’t wield absolute power anymore.
So, what are Salisbury taxpayers left with? Two properties that have come off of the tax rolls with no sign of being re-developed in the foreseeable future. The city has taken on an open-ended environmental morass. Now Louise Smith appears slated to announce for re-election claiming that she’s fiscally responsible and has lived up to her campaign promises.
The disconnect from reality continues …

The only promise Smith has kept is how she continues to screw Salisbury taxpayers. Her loyalty is with SAPOA.

The fed. Gov. is bankrupt , the State gov. is bankrupt , where is the money comming from?
You know what should happen - every time the city council meets they should be made to hold their council meetings at the Linens of the Week property and then the next meeting should be held at the bricks, after all they wanted the properties so why shouldn't they be used for their meetings.
Where is "The Bricks" located? I keep hearing about it, but I don't know where it is.

The City of Crisfield just had the old Carvel Hall plant donated to the city. Very quietly. Lots of contamination inside the crumpling building and on the property. Another city about to be bankraupted waiting for non-existent brownfield grants.
