Breaking News: Judge Sentences DeLay To 3 Years In Prison

Former House majority leader convicted of money laundering

A judge ordered former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to serve three years in prison Monday for his role in a scheme to illegally funnel corporate money to Texas candidates in 2002.

The sentence comes after a jury in November convicted DeLay on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. DeLay was once one of the most powerful men in U.S. politics, ascending to the No. 2 job in the House of Representatives.

Senior Judge Pat Priest sentenced him to the three-year term on the conspiracy charge. He also sentenced him to five years in prison on the money laundering charge but allowed DeLay to accept 10 years of probation instead of more prison time.

The former Houston-area congressman had faced up to life in prison. His attorneys asked for probation.
Senior Judge Pat Priest issued his ruling after a brief sentencing hearing on Monday in which former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert testified on DeLay's behalf.

See. You don't shoot the politicians you don't like. you vote them out then send them to prison.

Could not have happened to a nicer guy.

why aren't there more in jail? who let the dump guy retire and get a pension on the county rather than put him in jail? why aren't both of them in jail? we got plenty of these questions to answer right here!

Who are you talking to? The shooter? He is the only one who shot anybody and the only one that I know of who wanted to. Unless, of course, you're a mush brained idiot that thinks that "political rhetoric" had anything to do with that situation.

There isn't enough room in the Federal prison system to hold all the thieving and stealing politicians. The cells are being used to imprison people who smoke pot. Stealing hundreds of millions of dollars, taking bribes and kickbacks, passing out no-bid contracts, winking at companies charging the taxpayers $2500 an hour for "services", oh no...NONE of THAT is gonna get politicians in trouble. 20% approval rating? HA! The "people" LOVE us!!!
