What else is he supposed to do. He is at a "city council" meeting. He doesn't even belong there.
He's reading the hand fed article about Andy Harris he told them about.
Is there anything in the rumor that Andy Harris is going to relocate the 1st Congressional District office for the lower shore to a location not in Salisbury?

Ladies, ladies calm down. There's no reason to get our panties in a bunch. Now, Jim who is your real problem with? Then throw your shoe at him.
MY GOODNESS, all this drama is a disgrace. I did not think it could get any worse than when BT was mayor, but Jim, you are outdoing her. Good Lord, where is your dignity?
And while I am at it, I am sick of the fireboat scheme. Why did I not show up to speak.....as I have said before, it doesn't make a difference if one or 50 show up, they bulldoze their agendas through.
If the government would only look at where we are and where we would be a quick esponder. They would see we are not close enough to be a quick responder. The boat travels at 36 miles an hour. It would take 2 -3 hours to get anywhere. Where would we store thed boat? The other one is stored on dryland 20 minutes from the river. If a condo caught on fire it would be a good hour to get the boat to the river and to the scene. By that time the building burned to the ground!
WE DONT NEED A FIRE BOAT! It would take money away from other necessities just for upkeep of something we dont need.

...and this does divert focus from the deplorable housing conditions in some of Salisbury's neighborhoods -doesn't it?
The Johnson's Lake Neighborhood association sent out a meeting reminder for November 28th. That they were going to discuss Safe Streets Legislation, and also the new chief of police would be there as well. Interesting enough that is the neighborhood Jim Ireton lives in. Also Joe i know you have Susan Carey on your facebook, take a look at her post from a few months ago. She was agitated that neighborhood code and compliance wanted her to trim her willow tree that was obstructing view of traffic, and couldnt walk down the side walk, and it states, Tom called Jim and Jim told me to take care of it... wow just goes to show that friends of friends, or should i say Jim's friends or followers!!
Hi, Joe. I've been following your blog for about a month. I don't know who all the players are, but I'm getting an idea.
I would like to say something to the person who said this:

Do you know why it is important for you to show up even if the pols do whatever they want anyway?
I'll tell you.
Because you encourage others to show up. You encourage others to care. This is a televised meetings where you can see the audience, right? (I have a friend who watches religiously.) When people see others show up and see others speak, it gives them courage to do it themselves. It makes people pay attention to what's going on.
I could bore you with a story of about 10 years ago in another place I lived. I'll keep it short. It started with about 6 people, then it grew. Slowly. When about 60 people showed up, more happened. Next thing you know elections happened.
Let's just say things are better there now. Some of those elected were in that group of 60.
FWIW. Hope I didn't sound too stupid posting this. I'm more a reader being shy. But even I put my butt in a chair at a council meeting back then. If I lived closer I'd help you out in Salisbury.
7:38, I appreciate your feedback and do agree with your comment in general; that is, except when it comes to Salisbury, Md. Iused to attend some council meetings, but have never been so disgusted when a council president will gavel you down and have police presence, and shut the meeting down when you voice an opinion with passion that disagrees with hers. I could have sworn this was the United States, but it seems Salisbury city politics is not a government for and by the people.
7:10...did you not understand what you (rather, Ms. Carey) wrote? "Tom called Jim and Jim told me to take care of it."
In other words, the mayor didn't cut his friend any favors, he told her to take care of her tree as requested by code compliance.
What's your beef here? Sounds like the mayor expects everybody to follow the law, whether they are his friend or foe. What's wrong with that?
