Well thats great managment! That waterline has been leaking since Friday and the city knew it...So instead of getting right on it and fixing it, They took the view it could wait till monday did get to it monday, so we'll get righ on it on tuesday and now look what happens....How much is this going to cost taxpayers????how much of the street washed away? How long and will South Camden be down for? How much is that burst going to eventualy cost the city taxpayer in water billing fee? What was the cost of the police officers that had to stand post or direct traffic when they should be fighting crime?????? Conrad is in over his head! maybe they will need to bring in another high priced desk jockey to head the department heads and manger!
This is nuts! Konrad, how many mistakes does this make now? The city will be responsible for repairs to the truck becausse you sat on this instead of getting someone right on it. Fruitland leadership is a joke. I hope the council looks into this immediately.
The road was not damaged, it is in a yard. It happened in the course of fixing the problem. Leaks are a normal occurence, you fix them by severity. While the pipe was being repaired, it ruptured, which caused material to wash away.(with high pressure water, it doesn't take very long) They couldn't move the truck, as it was stuck, so this is the end result. Fortunately they were able to get the water shut off, and are repairing the broken pipe. I hope that you have always been able to repair problems at your home without something unexpected happening. Glad to see that we have such perfect commenters. I think they handled the situation well. As far as Mr. Konrad is concerned, he is going to serve Fruitland well, and is fiscally responsible. To bad there are people that jump to conclusions without knowing facts. In reference to the police, they were "on the clock" already. The truck had very minor damage, and the only expense will basically be some fill dirt. Sorry to disappoint you.
What's the chance that the weight of the truck with a load of dirt backing up to the hole broke the waterline?
I would think that if a loaded truck would break a waterline, there would be broken waterlines everywhere all the time since loaded trucks travel the roads, and go into driveways. Just a thought. Here is another thought, maybe something went wrong with a connection, or the line was weakened during the course of the repair. I believe that we are talking about an 8" line here with alot of pressure. It is just lucky that nobody was hurt. Glad that everyone was okay and they fixed the break so quickly. Good job Fruitland employees!!

As usual some people speek with out knowing what is realy going on, they open there mouth and garbage runs out. The leak was NOT found until Monday afternoon late, and an EMERGENCY locate was called in to MISS UTILITY, so the other utilities in the area would not be damaged during the repair,"this is required by law". The city crew was on the job at 7:30AM the next morning.
