One More Day!
Tomorrow ends my two weeks of service and with any luck they won't have any trials before the holiday.

I just got summoned to jury duty for the first time in my 54yrs of life..report time 3/1/2011..letter says one whole month to be on call...isnt that a long time to put ur life on hold...wow...
They should be going to the unemployment roles FIRST and pull people from there.
The LAST thing employers want to deal with right now is one or more of their employees having to be on waitlist for jury duty for a month!
There are 4 people left where I work and the 3 others have all been called for jury duty in the last 3 months! This is nuts!
Yes - they DO expect you to put your life on hold.
I gues the only reason I haven't been called is I don't live in Maryland.
I am called for the entire month of December. I can't make any plans or schedule my clients, because you have to call every night to see if you report the next day. So, I potentially could be without income for this December. Merry Christmas.
I feel your pain. I had jury duty for the month of September. That whole month just seemed to drag by. I sat in thru 3 murder cases for the jury selection process and was not selected, thank goodness. I agree with the person who stated, going thru the unemployment list... or welfare recipients.
It seems I get called every other year. I don't want to serve. You are FORCED to attend against your will. If you don't want to serve & you asked to be excused EVERY TIME you enter the courtroom, why do they continue to FORCE you to show up? I don't not consider this a privilege. I will be asked again next year, I will stand before the judge and tell him/her I do not want to serve and will be FORCED to show up every day anyway. Police State. You bet it is!!
I've lived here almost all my life & have never been called. All my family & friends have been called more than once. My retired elderly spouse has been called twice in the last 5 years. Why can't it be voluntary?
