A Weekend Full Of Great Things To Do In Salisbury!

Mayor James Ireton, Jr., encourages the community to be a part of these events.

DOWNTOWN CELEBRATION:

Friday afternoon starting at 5:30 p.m. Escape Restaurant will be hosting their one year anniversary celebration. Come out and show your support for the revitalization of Salisbury’s Downtown Plaza.

NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS:
Saturday morning, October 23rd, at Prince Street Elementary School from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Salisbury’s Promise will host “Gimme Five Day” – a special day devoted to our youth and providing the 5 promises: caring adults, safe places, healthy start, an effective education, opportunities to help others. There will be activities for the kids, food and a free eye screening.

PRINCETON AVENUE SERVICE CENTER:
From 12noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Princeton Homes area there will be a free block party hosted by Allen Memorial Baptist Church. Princeton Avenue Service Center is being utilized by SPD, NSCC, the Safe Streets Neighborhood Organization, and Center for Conflict Resolution. There will be free food, games, clowns, face painting, door prizes, free gifts and a live band.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING:
Wor-Wic Community College, EcoVentures International, MCE, and Telamon Corporation are hosting, Community Education on Sustainable Living: Local Businesses and Organizations Working Together to Build Smart, Green and Healthier Communities at Wor-Wic Community College, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There’s no cost to attend. Green Leader, Mayor Gee Williams of Berlin will kick-off the event. First 100 participants receive a sustainable bag of goodies valued at over $25. SSO AT SU:
Also, The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University features selections from the book Frederick’s Fables by Leo Lionni during its annual Children’s Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 23, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, the concert opens the SSO’s 2010-2011 season, which marks its 25th year.

Salisbury Metro Lions Club will be hosting the event at Prince Street School. Please come out to have your children's eyes tested.
