Tangier Watermen Star In New ESPN3 Commercial

TANGIER ISLAND, Va. - Tangier Island watermen star in a new ESPN commercial proclaiming the Chesapeake Bay island America's biggest sports town, per capita.

The commercial begins with a waterman pulling crab traps into a work boat and pans out to an aerial view of the tiny island. Graphics then declare it America's biggest sports town before an asterisk and "per capita" appears below.

The town manager says new Internet service for the island's 507 residents, and high definition streams of sports events on ESPN3, had the expected results.

Watermen are shown painting boats and buoys the colors of their favorite teams, playing tennis on the airstrip, and holding up a crab, claws pointing up, while saying "Hook 'Em Horns," the cheer of University of Texas at Austin fans.
