Location: PNC Bank. 1 East Basin Road (Penn Mart Shopping Center), New Castle, Delaware
Date and Time: Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Suspect(s): Jeffrey S. Mancinelli, 29, of May Avenue in New Castle, Delaware
Resume: At approximately 9:30 a.m. today, Troopers were dispatched to the PNC Bank in the Penn Mart Shopping Center in reference to a bank robbery.
In this case, a male suspect entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding cash. The bank employee complied and bandit in turn fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was described as a white male, shaved head, short in stature with tattoos on his neck.
A short time after the heist, New Castle City Police Officers spotted a vehicle on West 9th Street and Clayton Street in the “Shawtown” area of Old New Castle. The vehicle was similar to one involved in a hit and run crash from earlier in the day. Officers stopped the car and contacted the operator- Jeffrey S. Mancinelli. This subject’s description matched the bank robber’s description and Troopers were called to take custody of Mancinelli.
As Troopers were transporting this subject back to the Penn Mart Shopping Center, Mancinelli kicked the two back windows out of the Trooper’s police cruiser. Once at Penn Mart, Mancinelli continued his violent behavior as he spit on officers, shouted expletives and derogatory slurs and threatened Troopers.
At the conclusion of the on-scene investigation, Mancinelli was transported back to Troop 2 for processing. He was formally charged with Robbery and Criminal Mischief.
