HAGERSTOWN SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM DELMARVA

‘Birds Lose Fourth Straight, Fall to 18-24

Salisbury, Md.
– The Delmarva Shorebirds scored three runs in two games as the Hagerstown Suns cruised by the Shorebirds in both games of the doubleheader at Perdue Stadium on Friday night. Hagerstown won game one 10-1 and game two 9-2.

The Suns used big innings in both games to build large leads. In game one, the Suns used a five-run fourth inning to pull away from the ‘Birds. In game two, the Suns plated seven runs in the second inning.

Hagerstown game one starter Paul Demny tossed a complete game to earn the win. He surrendered just five hits and a run. Shorebirds starter Luis Noel, who was making his first start of the season, was pinned with the loss in 3.1 innings.

Shane Erb earned the game two win. He came on in the fifth inning and held the ‘Birds scoreless in 1.2 innings pitched. The loss went to Bobby Bundy, who was making his first start of the season.

T.J. Baxter was one of the few bright spots for the Shorebirds in game two. He connected on his first home run since April 14th in the fifth inning. He also had an RBI double to the left field wall in the second inning.

Delmarva plays game four of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Nathan Moreau makes his second start of the season for Delmarva.

The Orioles do not care about the Shorebirds. They have become just another tax deduction. Between the players sent here by the Orioles and the owners of the Shorebirds allowing the Orioles to use them as an extended spring training team is pathetic. These too owners care nothing about the Fans. One thing I can say is when Frank Perdue was in control he was not scared of Angelos and the makeup of the team would change with his call. Mark my word attendance is dropping and will drop dramaticaly after this season. When I have been there, fireworks is not crowed like they used to be and people leave in hordes before the game ends. I hear season ticket holders the first season in 1996say they are not foreseeing renewing next year along witha lot ofother season ticket holders. That makes a very sad situation since these people have endured a lot for the future of this team. This does not bode well for the players either since they see this happening. Looks like another rundown facility in the very near future for Salisbury.

It seems like a lot of people would rather have another blank lot than supporting a Minor League Baseball team in the area.

Salisbury doesn't realize how fortunate they are to have a team nearby. Stop supporting them, then we will see how pathetic this area will become.
