Achieving Excellence

All –

Many of you know that I was nominated several months ago to submit an application for the Achieving Excellence program. I am excited and honored to share the news that today I got the message below:

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in the fifth class of the NeighborWorks® Achieving Excellence in Community Development program (“AE5”). You are part of a class representing the spectrum and richness of seasoned leaders in the community development field. The knowledge that you and your colleagues bring, combined with the skills and expertise of the Achieving Excellence staff, coaches, and Harvard faculty, will help move the whole community development field more successfully into the future.

I will embark on the eighteen month course of study in September. Geared for working professionals, the program utilizes a mix of distance learning and on-campus sessions at Harvard, making the travel demands manageable. Peers who have completed the course of study categorize it as a life-changing experience. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with leaders in my field as we embark on a journey to improve our skills and expertise as we serve communities and families across the country. I especially look forward to the personal growth that comes with a learning opportunity (and a challenge) like this.

Debbie Campbell, congratulations to you! Imagine, Harvard! I hardly know you (we met twice), but I admire you and what you do. This is quite an achievement.

(And this makes me all the madder at how you and Terry Cohen are treated by the Dummies of the council. Here you are, honored in your field, going to Harvard. Terry Cohen is an Ivy League graduate with enormous experience. And you both are treated like dirt and your wisdom ignored. I hope the next election brings us smart people like the two of you!)

Congratulations, Debbie, and thank you for being on our side.

you go lady, we are all proud of you and we know you will broaden your horizons and prove to be a help in trying to bring some sort of improvement to this local madhouse. some others on the council could take a lesson from this and try to improve themselves. again, way to go.

I echo 11:14, Debbie. It's such a shame that the 3 stooges and the ex-mare and her crew can't seem to see the talent/skills of you and Terry.. or is it that they actually DO see, but are 'green' with envy and just have to try to bring you down?
Just like playground brats.
You go, girl! The VOTERS see..

I'm sorry to loose Debbie from the city council, but happy to hear she's able to participate in such a venture!

No losing Debbie from the council. Her note went on to say that it is a mix of distance learning and classes on the Harvard campus. She will still be with us.

Congrats, Debbie!

Debbie's not leaving SBY or the council. She said in her email that a lot of it is done online (distance learning) and some trips but travel is manageable.

The three stooges beholden to the landlords should be listening to Debbie Campbell about housing. None of them could get into Harvard to clean the toilets.

I talked to shanie yesterday and she told me should be finnished with her high school diploma in 2015. She's having trouble with the 5th grade right now. She says she's very tired because of the night courses , that's why she sleeps during the council meetings.
