FCC To Control What You Can/Can't Record From TV
At the MPAA's behest, the FCC granted Selectable Output Control, which means you won't be able to record certain "high value" stuff off your TV, ZeroPaid reports:
Whatever stupid method they try to impose to stop people from making backups of their stuff will be circumvented before the ink on the rule drys. All it does is drive up the cost of the equipment

So now we know the REASON for digital broadcasting of all television.
And we thought the corporations simply wanted us to enjoy better picture / audio quality!
