Fatal Crash Investigated On Route 13

Location: Route 13 northbound, south of Route 72

Date and Time: Friday, April 09, 2010, at 1:05 a.m.

Involved Parties:
2004 Ford Escape, operated by Darline M. Kane, 40, of Bear, Delaware.

Resume: Shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning, a fatal crash occurred on Route 13, just south of Route 72, in the town of St. Georges, Delaware.

This investigation revealed a 2004 Ford was traveling on Route 13 northbound at a high rate of speed. The operator, Ms. Darline Kane, lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway and traveled off of the east edge of the road. The Ford then slammed into a utility pole.

Ms. Kane was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Alcohol is considered a factor in this case. Traffic was diverted for approximately 2 hours.

This crash remains under investigation.
