Folks, I took a break away from the computer at 5 PM to watch WBOC on channel 21. First of all, their digital signal, (for those of us without cable) has sucked for the past week.
More importantly however, is their actual reporting! They had some reporter all the way in Cambridge covering a story about a lawyer that was arrested for sex offenses. They went all the way out there and when they cut in to the reporter who claimed to have an interview, all they showed on air was the guy saying, "he's a really nice guy." THAT WAS IT!
If you hadn't noticed over the past few years, whenever I'm at a Press Conference, these guys are so afraid of their own shadows, I ask all of the questions.
The TV Station is proving to be a joke and now they want to expand to Cambridge and Easton, or as they now call it, "the mid shore." Sorry but WBOC has become a joke.

but don't worry Joe, they will still win the "Edward R. Murrow Leadership in Broadcasting" award for the 6th or 7th straight year. Considering they are competing against an amateur station (channel 47) and there is no one else - this is much ado about nothing. Their reports stink, absolutely stink and the weather people have sunk to new lows in prepackaged, boilplated comments in their "forecasts". I never watch them unless I am a guest in someone else's house and they have it on. Thank goodness for cable and internet.

And why is it every single person they interview looks like they came from a trailor park. They typically have about 3 teeth.
Well for those in the mentioned counties it is nice to know what is happening. I agree the reporting stinks and needs drastic improvement but I happen to appreciate someone covering the areas that are often forgotten.

I truly agree,I've never really liked WBOC.Always been a WMDT watcher.Don't plan on changing anytime soon,either.
When the local news statioins were covering the Foxwell search I notice Joe was the ONLY one asking the questions I wanted answers to. The bozos at the other stations were asking really STUPID questions.
The best thing about this station is Lacee and Eileen, both very sexy ladies, Have you ever really watched Kelly and her actions with her pen. SO ANNOYING, or Jimmy, when he introduces people, Sorry jimmy , But you did a great job in radio just not TV
Funny, I watch WBOC @ 5 on 21 and
would have watched WBOC on 16 @ 6 & 7 had it not been for March Madness. My usual routine. Do you know I have never heard a cell phone ring during their news program or seen a newsperson pull one out of his/her pocket. Nor on channel 47 either. Perhaps you need lessons on how to produce a
real t v show.
They are liberal leaning to say the least so I have to question their business strategy here on the shore .I've all but quit watching their news " show" .

Thts what I was tryn to say in the comment that I posted up on the Guerrero confrence post yesterday,about how they(the other reporters)are afraid to ask any questions with you around,as you stated,you ask all the questions and they just copy down what you find out.Thats exactly what I was getn at with my comment yesterday!

OMG! I've been saying this for so long. Have you ever noticed that in the 30 min show, they have about 3 mins of "local" news and the rest is national news. What is this all about? if we wanted the national news, we would be watching the cable channels or wait til 6:30 for that horrible Katie, we turn on the "local" news channel to get the "local" news but either there is absolutely NOTHING happening on delmarva or they are just to lazy to look into anything. There shows consists of reading national news from the internet. nothing hard about that.
The actual news that they report is pathetic. There is enough crime on the shore for them to have an hour long newscast yet they report the weather every 3 mins. Then if you're lucky we can catch the segment of Captain Willy flying over some podunk town that Wboc is "proud" to serve. Do yourself a favor and grab a dictionary and define proud. If anyone is "proud" of what comes out of this news reporting you need to watch REAL newscasts. They pick and choose their news to continue the farce about this entire area. "If we dont report it, then it didnt really happen". Cover up, Cover up, deny deny deny. Typical podunk BS. Anywhere else and this wouldnt fly for a week, here, its a low standard, what do you expect.
Two comments here: 7:42 I agree the last two times WBOC has been in Princess Anne they have interviewed the same unemployed person walking the streets. It was a town issue and he doesn't even live in town, much less have an intelligent opinion.
Second, as to their signal, what's the deal, I thought the digital signal was supposed to be better. I have satellite, they won't allow me to get the local channels from Baltimore, yet even with a $100 rotating antenna I can't keep a constant signal.

I HATE how they have the camera follow the anchor over to the weather station, and how they now have the camera go over to the lap top screen to show viewer comments! Link the darn computer to the TV screen! Totally unprofessional. One more thing, Kelly get your teeth cleaned!
I refuse to watch either of their stations since they have to "protect" their advertisers by blocking out Baltimore & Washington stations. When the blizzards hit the area last month, we were watching WBAL out of Baltimore while they were carrying live coverage of the storm in the area. What happenned at 4:00 PM? They blocked out WBAL to protect their precious advertisers for "Oprah" when it wasn't even being shown on WBAL at the time because of live storm coverage. What would we do if they weren't allowed to protect a few car dealerships & furniture stores...

I'm also getting tired of watching the local news stations.
It USED to be that you would have news stories (along with commercials) for about the first 15 minutes and THEN they would do the weather, then sports.
NOW, they keep "teasing" you with the weather just about from the time they go on the air!
If they would use their "teasing" time as NEWS time, they'd be able to broadcast more NEWS!
WMDT isn't any better in my book. I stopped watching them 20 years ago. Their set and sound is pathetic and if they put a little more makeup on their female newscasters, I might be convinced I'm watching a mime show! Get rid of all that makeup! It looks terrible!!
They suck. Sorry WBOC I cant stand your slanted view. I hold the producers and station managers at fault. The reporters are fine. I know they do not make the calls on what goes on the air and how the show is ran.
anonymous 12:05, the ONLY Repoprter that knows what they're doing is Elizabeth Harrington. While I rarely ever see her out and about any more, the rest of the Reporters, (if you want to call them that) are absolutely clueless.
They simply go to a story and the Anchors reword and pre set up each video taken.
Perhaps everyone will recall the young Reporter from WBOC who almost attacked Sheriff Lewis on their first report about Sarah Foxwell. He was LIVE and looked like a complete Idiot. It was the biggest story of the year last year and I'm sure his bosses were telling him, this is the big one Son.
Again, in yesterday's interview in Cambridge, it was just ridiculous! They should have never published it.
