It is a stupid law and it doesn't stop me from texting.
I don't text when I drive, I might spill beer on my phone.
Nope they can wait or if not it's still legal to call.
This was just a topic on Oprah - which I don't normally watch. Just happened to be flipping through and I think we all should have bumper stickers that say:
Honk if you love Jesus.
Text if you want to meet him.
Stop driving and texting people.
Still do it.
Don't text and never will! Text messaging is worse than drinking or drugs! You hurt me or my family because of texting and you will be shot. Thank God for guns.
Anything that diverts your attention and focus from driving is not good. That includes talking on a cell phone while driving.
Never did it and rarely talk on the cell phone while driving. If I injured my children because I was ignorantly thinking a text was important enough to not watch my surroundings I would never forgive myself. People with mixed priorities are exactly why I don't allow others to transport my children!

Texting while driving is more distracting then talking while driving. Although talking while driving, people can't do both because they don't use blinkers or pay attention to traffic lights.

I still do it, but only at a stop light or stop sign..if the light turns green I stop till I get to the next Light.go ahead shoot me. I dont even know how people can do it while actually driving..its to hard. But I think its ok when your stopped at a light. But thats my opinion.

Texting while driving is not a good idea, but I still do it sometimes. I don't do it when there's much traffic - only when I feel it's safe enough, and I take my time texting, trying not to let it distract me at all from my driving.
Still do it. When your a obsessive texter, you know the keys without even looking at them.
The law itself is a joke. It only bans "texting". The phones of today do so much more than that. I can surf the web, play cards, get a weather radar, find a restaurant and do myriad other things. The simple defense to getting stopped for texting is to admit to one of the things listed above. The law has no teeth and was only passed to make us, the voting public, feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

All cell phone use and texting should be ban. It's almost like drunk driving. Can't or won't pay attention while driving. Hell no, I don't miss it.

Personal note,
Ban talking on cell phones while driving even with a ear piece, still distracting. Ban passengers too, their distracting maybe keep a muzzle in the car.
I am on the road all over Delmarva and have seen more people texting since the law passed than before. I don't think the law has made any difference at all. I try not to text while driving but catch myself doing it anyway.

I agree with 1:21. It is a ridiculously unenforceable law. Legislators definitely wasted a lot of money on this one. I admit I text and talk on a phone while I drive. I recognize the dangers of it and agree that it's not a good idea. If they want to make the roads safer then they need to ban the use of cell phones altogether while driving.
#1 It's a secondary offense (as seat belts used to be). Therefore you can't get stopped by the police for merely text messaging, they have to stop you for something else and then if you were texting as well you can be charged.
#2 There is no way for the police to easily prove you were text messaging. A driver can simply say, "I was looking through my contacts list to make a phone call."
The law isn't fair to the police either. How can you give someone a law to enforce which is practically impossible to prove without subpoenas, search warrants, etc. No cop is going to go through the hassle of all of that for a mere traffic citation. I have a feeling that this law will only be used in the prosecution of a person involved in a major accident if it is believed texting played a part.
This law just like many laws was made in haste to please the public, while serving no real purpose.
Why do these kids text all the time? Just CALL them and TALK to them? Does the young generation have verbal social skills, or do they have to text everything with horrible spelling, such as u r 2?
I don't drive and never text. If it's worth saying I make the call. I do have someone I ride with who still does it. She's already a bad driver, only makes it worse. Have seen her with a burger in one hand, texting with the other while her knee handles the wheel. Yes, scares me to death!
I can’t text on solid ground let alone behind the wheel. Unfortunately the law is virtually unenforceable so what’s the point. If you want to make a law about this distraction then have it encompass all cell phone use behind the wheel. Then again the police are just as big a violator as John Q Public on that score.
I think this law was only passed so that there is possibility for heftier consequenses if someone causes an accident while texting. I don't think it is meant for the police to pull your phone records if you are stopped for speeding and they think you might have been texting.
I text while driving my truck with my knee and have my slice of pizza in my driving hand. easy task to do.
Are you kidding? I have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time! definitely have a hard time texting while driving. Really don't like the idea of running off the road. I wait until I'm stopped somewhere or call back if it's really important.
I saw a woman the other day driving down rt 13 with the visor down, looking in the mirror on the visor, and putting on eye make-up. Her face was right up to the visor mirror, no way she could see the road. I sped up and got away from her. I could text and drive with my old flip phone, but my new phone requires two hands to text, so I don't do it anymore.
I don't text when I drive. I don't use navigation. I don't call people. I also don't eat. I don't touch the radio. I don't look at the person next to me. I sit straight up. I hold my hands at 10 and 2 ALWAYS. I actually don't carry passengers. I don't touch my ipod. I always stay two car lengths behind every car. I sit straight up. I don't look down even to check my speed. Oh and my first car was a Model T. C'mon people this is a joke. Get with the times.
