On October 8, 2009 at approximately 3:40 a.m., a student was robbed while walking along the sidewalk entering the Blackwell Parking Lot (Lot “F”), near Camden Ave. The suspect brandished what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun.
The suspect was described as follows: African-American male, 6 ft. tall, medium muscular build, wearing a white shirt, black pants, and black baseball cap.
The suspect was accompanied by another man, described as follows: African-American male, 5’8” tall, medium build, dreadlock style hair, wearing a red hooded shirt with white horizontal stripes and blue jeans.
Both men arrived and departed in a maroon in color mid-sized sport utility vehicle.
Anyone who may have information about this crime is asked to contact the Salisbury University Police Department: (410) 543-6222; or, report anonymously to Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore: (410) 548-1776.
I would like to remind our campus community that crimes can occur anywhere at anytime. Individuals should always be attentive to their surroundings, and remain alert to the potential ill-intent of others nearby. Please review and consider the following tips. Extra vigilance
and caution is in order whenever you are out alone, away from crowds.
Street Robbery Tips:
1. Try to remain calm. Do not resist. Consider the robber dangerous.
2. In most cases, the robber only wants your valuables/money and is not there to hurt you.
3. Assume the robber is armed, even if you don't see a weapon.
4. If a weapon is displayed, consider it to be real and loaded.
5. Do only what the robber tells you. If you don't understand, tell the robber.
6. Attempt to get a good, complete description of the robber, - taking note of unique and unusual characteristics.
7. Your main goal is to survive!
8. Don't resist and fight with the assailant unless it is evident that your life is in danger! The most effective self defense measures include running away, hiding and screaming to draw the attention of others.
9. Remember--your valuables can be replaced, - your life can't.
Report any suspicious persons immediately to the police. If possible, use a cellular phone to call 911 while maintaining visual observation of the subject(s).

here we go again. Some dumbazz kid out by himself at 3:40 AM - AM for gosh sakes. These students are told over and over during orientation about the laws and "crime" situation in the area and what steps to take to avoid received alcohol citations or noise ordinance citations AND how to AVOID being a victim of crime.
I don't know how these kids even graduated from high school when you decide you can "walk around" at that time of the night. I have no sympathy for someone who "asks for it"
What a stupid comment!
8:53 the truth hurts don't it? that post was right on
Or lets just not walk around campus at 4am?! Sounds like a plan.
Phew...I am just glad there is no crime in Salisbury.
I do have to admit what my mom said was true "nothing good happens after midnight".
829 U R being a D!ck. If you are a night owl and you want to take a walk you shouldn't have to worry about getting jumped especially near SU which is probably one of the safest areas in Salisbury. They have armed security constantly circling the campus & SPD up & down Camden 24/7. I live near SU and have never seen any trouble but if anyone comes close to me they would get a face full of pepper spray
I think what the chief is trying to remind people of, is that when seconds count, they are only minutes away.
let them hold me up walking back from the Zoo...my 1911 is always cocked and locked
yea I use a level 3 serpa holster, but only for concealability
Its a sad day when we blame the victim. I know the timing could have been a little better, but its is a shame when a person can't walk a public street alongside the public university to which he pays tuition, in safety. If it was one of your children jumped walking home from a party or something like that, you'd be up in arms for more security and policing... certainly not saying that he or she was "asking for it".

It must be hunting season.
8:29 is a typical idiot. You dont even know the specifics. The victim may have been walking to avoid drinking and driving or to attempt sobering up with a walk down the street or to get some fresh air.
Just because the ppl that read this Blog know that Salisbury is a sh*thole doesnt mean that everyone else does.
If everybody had a gun this wouldn't be happening. Think about it. If you are a criminal and you know your victim (the guy who "asks for it" according to the idiot who posted at 8:29) doesn't have a gun and you do, you have an easy target. If you knew there was a beter than average chance that the guy who was asking for it was packing a piece, you would be a whole lot less likely to give him what he was asking for. Call me crazy, but it makes perfect sense to me. But in our upside down liberal society, the criminals are the only ones who carry guns, so the people who ask for it have no defense. The crime problems in this country are caused by anti-gun laws and slimy leeches called lawyers who line up at the door to put the thieves and child molesters back on the streets to victimize someone else. Speeking of child molesters-I guess the innocent children who are victimized are "asking for it" too, aren't they 8;29? Your post has to be one of the stupidest things I have seen on this site yet!
Yeah that's classy let's blame the victim. Wow what a surprise a black person robbing someone. This is still a free country for now, anyway don't we have the right to walk any street at anytime without being robbed?
Another example of the "800 pound gorilla in the room" . . . .
Wow, look at the description of the suspects....very surprising...
