Radar on Route 50

Joe is on his way to the Western Shore this morning. He called in with a Smokey report. He said, "there are police everywhere and they are running radar".

Be careful leaving the shore, not only is traffic bad, the State of Maryland needs money. This being next to the last big weekend of the summer, they are out to get what they can, of course they would like everyone to drive safely and buckle up.

Have a safe ride, wherever you go.

I got stopped in DE yesterday--nice to know that they have no real crime to contend with there either.

Maybe they just want to make sure everyone makes it to where they are going ALIVE.

I drive to washington on a regular basis, everyday I see state police exceeding the speed limit, pulling all kinds of dangerous manuevers. coming and going, amazing, but we know they are above the law, they are just trying to get to work like the rest of us. But anyone else do 10 over the speed limit and they are getting a ticket. wouldn't it be nice if everyone outfitted their vehicles with cameras, audio and video then taped the MSP officers breaking the law. Send it into your local news station and internal affairs! how many times are these cowboys going to endanger others!
God forbid they get off rt 50 and go into the seadier neighborhoods and actually arrest some criminals. But wait, then they might get shot, and arresting someone would cost the state money.
better to generate that income for the state!

100 bucks says they are running laser and not radar

It's a parking lot out there! Took me 2 hours from Easton to Wye Mills! They would have clocked me at about .047 mph

Berlin barracks, pretty tame. Salisbury a little wilder, but still professional. They know Mike is watching I guess. Easton is out of control. Easton routinely passes me running at least 90 for no reason, and bullying those who don't move over for them.

wilkerson you're an idiot!
how much money does md make off rt 50 every year. when I first moved here twenty years ago it was 10 mil a year, what do you think it is today?
remember the state police are not here to protect you, they are here to protect the government from you! get real! don't believe me ask maj. doyle! lol!

Joe,

I'm hoping you find your mother improved, and your worries allayed.

Wishing you the best.

9:10--then you weren't where I was in Pittsville since Friday...no less then 5 cars stopped directly in front of our house...and yesterday, I watched the trooper come and go about 20 times until it got dark. I swear he earned his money, and ours.

I live on the first clear 'straight away' for hotrods to push the pedal to the max, they do, and they get caught, for good reason. Over the last 20 years, there have been many DEATHS just up the road for that simple push to get crazy and speed. A straight away is never as simple as it appears.

Keep safe out there.

Because of Biker Weekend, there was the usual show of troopers on overtime. They need to get the money to pay for that overtime somehow.

As for speeding troopers, it would be safer, less costly, and more profitable to set up speed cameras on Rt 50.

like to know how much our county city and state police spent thiw weekend over ervcing an event that never has a I see a "mobile" county office at winterplace park, You must be kidding. County Police need audited if they have that much money to waste.

Beware everyone, they've given that "Bicycle Trooper" another car and he's back out trying to impress daddy, and everyone else, again. He still has his old driving habits of being reckless and sure to crash. What a Clown!

Mike Lewis and his deputies were doing their job to keep everyone safe. If it takes the mobile command unit there at Winterplace Park, so be it. Mike was asked how much he would charge for the extra deputies to be on the job this weekend. His answer "That is my job". Sheriff lewis is dedicated to the citizens of Wicomico county. He has busted people for drugs and used their money to by new sheriff cars. That is committment to the people. Did a previous sheriff do that? Is the city of Salisbury doing that?

Does anyone find it just a little strange that there were no sobriety check points between Salisbury and Ocean City over the weekend. Wonder if it has anything to do with bike week bringing in so much money to the area?

On Wednesday, the first day of Bike Week, I was working in my yard on Old Ocean City Rd., Pittsville...saw several bikes get stopped by Trooper. I started to try to warn the bikers to slow down, signalling with the universal "sign"...until one of them gave me the finger. After that they were on their own, as far as I was concerned!
