Hi-Ho, The Derry-O

Let's say you're preparing dinner and you realize with dismay that you don't have any certified organic Tuscan kale. What to do?

Here's how Michelle Obama handled this very predicament Thursday afternoon:

The Secret Service and the D.C. police brought in three dozen vehicles and shut down H Street, Vermont Avenue, two lanes of I Street and an entrance to the McPherson Square Metro station. They swept the area, in front of the Department of Veterans Affairs, with bomb-sniffing dogs and installed magnetometers in the middle of the street, put up barricades to keep pedestrians out, and took positions with binoculars atop trucks. Though the produce stand was only a block or so from the White House, the first lady hopped into her armored limousine and pulled into the market amid the wail of sirens.

Then, and only then, could Obama purchase her leafy greens. "Now it's time to buy some food," she told several hundred people who came to watch. "Let's shop!"

Cowbells were rung. Somebody put a lei of marigolds around Obama's neck. The first lady picked up a straw basket and headed for the "Farm at Sunnyside" tent, where she loaded up with organic Asian pears, cherry tomatoes, multicolored potatoes, free-range eggs and, yes, two bunches of Tuscan kale. She left the produce with an aide, who paid the cashier as Obama made her way back to the limousine.

There's nothing like the simple pleasures of a farm stand to return us to our agrarian roots.

And we are supposed to believe that she actually prepared dinner? Michelle Obama is despicable for engineering a patient dumping scheme with her butt buddy Valerie(gonna make billions from the Olympics) Jarrett and Axelrod. These people are ugly, dishonest, immoral America hating parasites. Valerie Jarrett is running the show.

Have you ever been to downtown Chicago in the late summer, fall? They have a fabulous farmer's market right downtown, how many times have I wished for something like that in downtown DC when I worked there. Its too bad that Michelle is first lady and has to have all that security, but it is what it is - so congratulations Michelle for helping bring a renewed focus on fresh fruits and vegetables, especially for the children.

No, only for the asrmoured limo, 45 car entourage, sound stage, and thinking everyone can afford organic arula at $7.99 lb.

Perfectly staged down to marigold leis and cowbells. More appropriate than one might imagine.

On video, First Lady says this is the most exciting event in her life, so far. It seems that the make-up artist is still on the government payroll. I don't usually don false eyelashes, heavy eye shadow and contouring to buy veggies.

Why all the security? God forbid something should happen to her, but if it did, it in no way disrupts the continuity of government, and has no effect on how the US would continue to operate. The First Lady even gets her own office and staff, which is a waste of my tax dollars!

What a wasteful expenditure of tax payers money! Can you imagine the bill for the security for this one block trip? Guess if you can afford a $400 lunch at the Waldorf it is mere trivia for her. What a disgusting waste when there are people out of work everywhere. Shame on her!

You know, if she just snuck out and went to the market without an announcement, probably no one would recognize her until she was pretty much done shopping... too late to cause a problem. Just shut up and shop.

Our First Lady has the largest staff of First Ladies in history, about 20.

11:07-a little fixing up and a nice dress always gets you better bargains from the farmer's at the markets.
