TRAFFIC ALERT - Pavement & Rehabilitation Project In Wilmington


Funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act

Wilmington -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that motorists will encounter both day and nighttime lane closures beginning on Monday, July 20 and ending mid October for six roadways in Wilmington. This project will include the following: milling, paving, concrete roadway patching, Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramps, pedestrian signalization, and loop detection replacement. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect lane shifts.

This project is funded through President Obama's landmark American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This project and other ARRA projects are revitalizing Delaware's economy by preserving and creating jobs.

The first phases of the project will begin on:

Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 31, pending weather
1. South Walnut Street Extension from Rogers Road to Front Street-Martin Luther
King Boulevard
2. Walnut Street from 13th Street to 16th Street

Construction dates for the following roadways will be announced later.

Second Street from King Street to North Broom Street
16th Street from Walnut Street to Market Street
King Street from East 16th Street to East 10th Street
Church Street from 4th Street to Brandywine River Bridge

Greggo & Ferrara, Inc. submitted a bid of $2,926,340.40, the lowest of five bids received. The construction will be completed within 120 calendar days, pending weather.
