CITY HALL

The Fruitland City Council met in regular session on Tuesday evening, July 14, 2009 in the City Council Chambers. Numerous items of property were declared surplus. Please see City Hall for details.

RECREATION COMMISSION

There will be no Recreation Commission meeting this month.

POLICE

Mark your calendars, National Night-Out will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm at the sports complex. Come out and have some fun.

PUBLIC WORKS

Routine park maintenance, grass cutting, roadside maintenance have kept the department busy.

OTHER

On Thursday, July 16, 2009, City Council President Greg Olinde assumed the presidency of the Lower Eastern Shore Mayors Association. LESMA is a networking tool that the towns and cities use to see what problems and concerns are occurring and discuss and strategize on solutions. Congratulations Greg and you will do a fine job.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

On July 17, 1955, Disneyland, Walt Disney’s metropolis of nostalgia, fantasy and futurism, opens. The $17 million theme park was built on 160 acres of former orange groves in Anaheim, California, and soon brought in a staggering profit. Today, Disneyland hosts more than 14 million visitors a year who spend close to $3 billion.
