Truitt vs Wilber

When you think about how less than effective Wilber's been, and how much we've spent to pay him defend his own bad legislation (among other Tilghman-driven wastes of our hard-earned cash), then to rewrite it, we're looking at how much? $50,000? $100,000? $200,000? Whatever it is, it's too much and it happens too often. Don't we deserve a city attorney that can get it right the first time and one that defends the taxpayers and council, instead of being the lapdog of a mayor that's no longer with us?

Oh she's still with us. You have no idea the control she still has in the GOB.

Wow....Mrs. Truitt deserves a standing ovation. Thank you! She hit the nail on the head it seems.

Question for 1:56-- are you serious? Barrie still flexes her strength within the GOB? How? Does she call these folks on the phone still?

What more cause does Jim Ireton need to get rid of Wilber? He doesn't need council approval to get rid of the city attorney. All he has to do is fire him. Will it be easier to get a new mayor than it will be a new attorney?

OMG this is so outragious, I heard the former Mayor hired him, she hand picked her pupputs. Like Oland she is another one the Mayor hand picked. But do we have to put up with this, paying for services and not getting what we pay for? Like Oland not being there for any of the Citys audits and Wilber not having the Citys best interest when representing us. What about Pick and Chambers do they also have other interests here. I believe its time to put our foot down and demand something be done!THANK YOU MRS. TRUITT for showing backbone.

The Mayor can fire Wilber, but he cannot hire a new attorney without the City Council majority approval. Thank Barrie Tilghman for changing that to make sure Wilber stays in. So if Ireton fires Wilber, then we're without an attorney. You'd think the City Council would have to approve the Mayor's choice...um, no, they don't have to. If you want Ireton to fire Wilber, call his office and tell him so, then be prepared to call all the council members and show up for the council meeting to support whichever attorney Ireton asks to replace him with. Pressure on the Council is the only way this will happen.

Anon 3:58 I beg to differ with you. If Ireton fires Wilber and we are left without an attorney that falls on the heads of the council. If we are without legal representation it will be the fault of the council NOT the fault of the mayor. The city is being sued for $47 million dollars do you honestly think Wilber can win a case like that? He couldn't even beat a group of housewives and a retiree in court. Can his worthless butt now and save the taxpayers some money.

The city definitely needs a new attorney.

A new attorney, a new police chief, a new city administrator (and not the assistant one who is always getting an attitude with citizens and representatives from other agencies), a fire chief whose name isn't Gordy or Hoppes and cheer on the current director of NSCC and PW for having weathered the Tilghman storm as well as could be expected. Show up, speak out.

6 p.m., I agree with you. It's on the heads of the council majority.

Mrs. Truitt had the guts to stand up there and state the FACTS.

Instead of hand-wringing here, each one of you go get 10 people and call, write or email the Mayor and the Council.

Just remember, Mr. Wilber played his part for Barrie Tilghman to work AGAINST the citizens who paid her and pay him!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Jim Ireton needs to get off his duff and start living up to some of those campaign promises. You can't fight crime with a deadbeat police chief. You can't win a court case with a deadbeat for a lawyer. You can't balance the books with a deadbeat in charge of finance. You can't run a city with a proven liar in the administrators seat. You can't save money when you create assistant administrator positions when all that was required was a good administrative assistant. What happened to reinterviewing department heads? Lets see some of those promises being fulfilled and less photo ops.

Bet she gets another nasty letter from Louise Smith.
