Do You Pick Your Own Produce?
Do u-pick produce such as blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and other local produce. Sometimes farms do it by word of mouth and don't advertise because of the expense.
If you DO pick your own produce, tell us where to go for each item.

We picked our strawberries at Grist Mill Gardens in Pittsville.
Strawberries from Oakleys in Hebron. Heading out to Holloways this week for blueberries. Waiting to hear who has peaches this year. Sweet Potatoes from Toadvines on Rockawalkin Rd. Will have to wait to see who has the best produce for the money as the season progresses.
Forget How Sweet It Is, they are higher than quinine this year. It seems they are relying on the tourists going down 13 for their money. They forgot the locals are the ones that started them in business.
Mason't Beach Farm in Hacksneck, VA...Blueberries, peaches, apples, Asian pears, you name it. I am also looking for pie cherries if anyone knows a u-pick or someone who is selling those.
Blueberries - Levin Dashiell Rd. in Hebron - BEST blueberries around hands down!!! You have to call to see when they are open though - they like to give the plants a break. 410-546-8166
Garden Of Eden, just off of Nanticoke Road (about 5 1/2 miles from Rt 50) has the BEST blueberries. I think it is $5 a pail. They have a beautiful crop this year.
I don't pick fruits but I used to pick peas for freezing but like you said these places don't advertise much anymore. If anyone knows of U-PICK peas locations, please post them here. Thanks!
Hey there folks! Blackberries on Little Lane in Hebron...Super Yummy! Blueberries on Levin Dashiell Road. Peaches will be ready at Garden of Eden around July 1st. Wild mulberries at Raoring Point Park...Get um' before the birds do! How Sweet It Is and Oakley's prices are outragous! Brice Turner on Levin Dashiell Road has great prices on all of his produce...been purchasing goodies for 8 years from his road side stand.
Peaches... Bennett Orchards on Armory Road in Frankford, DE... WORTH THE DRIVE!!! I would pick strawberries and blueberries locally but my father in law keeps bringing them to my house, so I don't have to.
The Dilworth Farm in Fruitland. There's a stand out on Riverside Dr. going out of town just before it gets into Eden. Everything is organic. Old man Dilworth doesn't use herbicides and hoes 12 acres of produce himself.
When the tomatoes start up in this area, Harcum's on Rte.50 has the best hands down.. I drive all over the shore and can say that from lots of trial and error. I have to agree that How Sweet It Is and Oakley's are catering to the tourists, they are priced consistently high on just about everything.
At Oakley's we offer our quality products - which most are grown right on our farm - at a resonable price. Everywhere you go you will find the person who shops from stand to stand to find the lowest price. It is not always about the price - it is about quality. What we do not grow we buy from local growers - Garden of Eden - blueberries and peaches, Holloway's blackberries...etc. They all grow great products. We can not grow everything. Not fair to run down the local farmer for trying to make a profit to stay in buisness. To many people are satisfied with the generic produce they buy dirt cheap at walmart. There "LOCAL" is east coast not Eastern Shore. We thank all of our loyal and faithful customers that appreciate true quality from the farm and friendly service! Thank you ! The Oakley Family!
We love Oakley's. The have a great Halloween set up for the kids and on Oct 31 i believe they normally have a huge sale where you can fill a plastic walmart bag with most of the produce there for $5. You should see what people walk away with...potatoes, onions, tomatoes, peppers, etc... Also I never walk up there and find a stinker on their product saying grown in California like I have other "local" produce stands. We also love Garden of Eden and Lee Jay Farms on Rockawalkin Rd. All great produce.

What is the going rate on blueberries this season?
I let Marcelus do the picking and we buy from him. Delmar tracks.

Holloway farm blackberries are
all thornless and will be ready
the second week of July.
9:31 Food Lion has MVP blueberries: two pounds for $5.00. Save your gas and labor - they are good. lol
what about raspberries?
Seems like Oakley's has the best strawberries in the area at a reasonable price
9:31 - Garden of Eden is $2.10/lb. They are charging 50c for a bucket, but if you bring your Oakley's bucket, it is the same size/weight.

Brice Turner does have good stuff so does Brian Toadvine and old Ralph Harcum.
Now THIS is keeping it local.
