Listed on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Salisbury City Council is a resolution to appoint certain persons as the City’s designated members of the board of directors of PAC 14. One of them, Marvin Long is a former member of both the Wicomico County Council and PAC 14’s board who more recently supported Muir Boda in the recent City election – see his letter, below, that appeared in The Daily Times. Boda unsuccessfully challenged Debbie Campbell for the Council seat that she currently holds.
As a member of the PAC 14 board for some years, Mr. Long apparently was content that it do very little, and in recent years virtually nothing. When Ms. Campbell was appointed to the board and tried to have it perform its management oversight and other intended functions, Long did not support her initiative.
He seems to be an accomplice if not an actual instigator of the once clandestine attempt to seize control of PAC 14 from the City and County governments – some of the primary players in that scheme being Barrie Tilghman, Gary Comegys, Louise Smith, Shanie Shields, Michael Pretl and Phil Tilghman. Last fall, when the County Council refused to condone that conspiracy, Long resigned from the board. He has appeared before the Council in an effort to gain City recognition of their scheme.
It is clear both that Long supports the conspiracy to take over PAC 14 and also that this is why Louise Smith and Gary Comegys are trying to rush through his appointment before the new Mayor and Council are in charge. To put it plainly, Mr. Long is a ringer.

April 3, 2009
Salisbury shortly will be electing a mayor and two council members. One of the City Council members will represent District 2, where I reside. The incumbent representative, Debbie Campbell, is running for re-election. I cannot support her, though her parents live just around the corner from me and she grew up in my neighborhood. Although I personably like Campbell, I am disappointed in her actions while in office.
Although many regard her incessant demands for more information before making a decision a positive, my years in public service suggest this is a delaying technique used to avoid making a decision. After all, one is elected to be a decision-maker, which can sometimes be tough.
Her consistent negative votes bring to mind a City Council member when I was in high school. He voted no all the time, realizing the votes were there to pass the action anyway. However, his actions had the local newspapers referring to him as a public watchdog -- striking similarity here.
I interviewed Muir Boda and asked him pointed questions. I found him refreshingly candid. He said he hoped, if elected, to be a good steward of city funds and resources. He had followed city government closely and was aware of the issues. He emphasized the need to eliminate the divide on the council and work together to change the city's image.
I was impressed by his maturity and knowledge. I think he would be a fine council member.
Therefore, I am supporting Boda.
Marvin R. Long

The reign of terror is OVER, The PEOPLE have spoken!
Mr. Long:
To quote your political pal, Mikey Dunn: you lost!
That letter is of the same content and writing style as several other Comegys support letters that came out pre-election. The the same arguments. It's much more anti-Campbell than it is pro-Boda, and obviously the work of someone not interested in who was elected to the council seat as long as it wasn't the incumbent.
Sounds like Mr. Long is one more tool of the Tilghman/Comegys set. Aside from the loss of the control they've shown they abuse and can't responsibly handle, what are they afraid of?
Yes, Long should go. He's proved what side of the fence he lives on and it's clear where his ideas for PAC14 will lead.
Marvin Long is in Phil Tilghman's pocket on this and everything else.
He's one of those good old boys from times past. Marvin you retired now just go fishing or something.
One of the main instigator of the PAC-14 attempted hijacking is that transplated Baltimore lawyer Mike Pretl of the W.E.T gang, who supposedly sits close to Ireton on the "so called" neighborhood congress.
Mr Long, you lost, and you lost BIG! A sure sign that you were a drone for the Comegys camp was citing the "no" votes. Were you upset when Debbie voted against wasteful spending? Was that what put you over the edge? Fortunately, the citizens of Salisbury saw that Debbie Campbell has their interests at heart, and resoundingly put her back in office.
If Long had done his job all those years he was on the PAC 14 board, it would never have come to this.
The Wicomico republicans have amazing Ann Suthowski, who supported Bubba, and the democrats have marvelous Marvin Long, who supported Boda. That's why I'm an independent.
Joe why do you keep bringing Muir Boda. Are you afraid that he won't let you man the kettle at Walmart, next year. Please explain. Ms Campbell won. you should be happy. What has he done that is so wrong.
You're just upset that because of Boda, you won't be able to hang out at Walmart. You got lots of money from the kettle campaign as well as free advertisment. You really must be afraid of Boda
After you are convicted in a court of law. Mr Long, Mike Dunn, as well as Mayor Tilghman will have the last laugh. You have proven that you are biased. Any viewpoint that does not agree with you, has been determined by you to be hate. Your blog, which could be potentially great for the public, needs to show both points of view
Marvin has slopped at the gov't troughs too long. He collected his paychecks but was a burden as a county employee. Couldn't have kept a job had it not been a gov't one. Then he sat on the county council 2 terms too long. He is a arrogant bully and needs to be tossed aside. Go fishing Marv.
