Brooke Mulford Day

Joe, I have been reading your blog and was impressed with your reporting of Brooke Mulford's story. With that in mind, I am forwarding you this information from events this past weekend in my store in Cambridge and our Salisbury store location.

On Saturday, February 7th, Super Fresh store locations in Cambridge and Salisbury,MD held "Brooke Mulford Day". Raffles were held from 10-4 on that day and tickets for prizes were sold at $1 each with the winners to be drawn on Valentines Day the following Saturday. Prizes were as follows: a two night, 3 day stay at the Split Rock Resort in the Poconos for two (donated by Troy Hill, General Manager of MTS Broadcasting in Cambridge, MD); a T Pak coffee maker by Braun; a $100.00 gift card to Best Buy; and a $50.00 American Express gift card (all donated by Corporate A & P Tea Co.) . The events at both stores also generated funds by doing employee 50/50 raffles and at the Salisbury location, Coca-Cola Enterprises of Salisbury, donated a snack trailer that allowed the store employees to sell hot dogs and Cokes for $1.00. All funds raised by the two Super Fresh stores were totaled up and transfered to money order checks that were then given to Lisa Mann of the United Way of Salisbury to benefit Brooke Mulford's medical expenses. The total raised in the one day event at both stores was $857.00. It was impressive to see that the people that gave the most, were the ones who had the least to give, and showed that the continued support of this little girl's fight reaches across all walks of life. Her website can be viewed to see how she is progressing at www.caringbridge.org/visit/brookemulford
Thanks to all who supported this event and helped make it a successful day by donating time, prizes, or money.
