JUST IN THE KNICK OF TIME!

"Joe,

Would you believe, a teacher and great family friend told us this last night?

"I have been asking for a tv in my room for three years and never got one. Would you believe one showed up today? Although it was not new and was way before the time of remotes I did get one"

They are digging these things up out of storage, attics and everywhere now. I wonder, just wonder, if this has anything to do with allowing all kids to watch tv in class this tuesday. Lets make sure not one kid misses this.....You got to love it, what a disaster!

Thanks,

Anonymous"

So what's wrong with school kids watching the inauguration? It's a great way to get kids interested in civics and political science.

Get over it. You want some cheese with that whine?

Joe. Either you are creating these posts yourself to increase hits, or someone is tossing another spinner bait of inflammatory/half-true BOE crap at you {like the "told to dress up" nonsense last week) to get your readers to fight amongst themselves in an ugly, alienating and divisive fashion. If I am not mistaken, you have had someone actually anonymously try to take credit for setting you up in this fashion. When reading this post-I believe them, NOBODY talks or writes that way in normal conversation without some form of troublemaking agenda behind it. Caveat emptor.....Move on to actual issues-not hearsay gathered from hearsay...and if anyone is THAT concerned they can provide a name.

You're wrong Bobby, period. I have the information I need to know what's right or wrong and I'm confident in this message.

Well, they are running cable to every room to make sure all the kids cn watch it. This has never been done before.

Reese the kids are "strongly encouraged" to wear red, white, and blue. My daughter came home worried to death because she doesn't have an outfit that has red, white, and blue so now I will be going out this weekend to buy her something. I did ask her why she wants to wear the colors and she told me she doesn't want to be left out and look stupid not wearing them. Take she is only 7 but it shows what pressure this has put on the children.

your kid is only seven and you are buying her outfits so that she can "fit in". tsk tsk tsk. She will be vain but i guess that's not the worst thing in the world.

Leave Ted alone, thats a single man taking care of his kids. You know how rare that is.Cloths shopping for a seven year old girl, wow, good luck Ted.

So you are telling me your 7 year old does not have blue pants and either a red or white shirt? I think people are freaking out way too much. Watching the inaugural will be a cool experience for some students, another boring thing for others, just like any other assignment. They might eventually come to appreciate it later inlife when they start learning about the people who were killed simply for asking that all Americans have the right ot vote and be elected.

I find this pretty amusing. Usually the right wingnuts would be going crazy in support of an effort to "promote patriotism among the young 'uns."

Wait a second--you are a teacher who is not a liberal? Gee, some guy called me a liar earlier because I pointed out that a teacher at Bennett was saying that Obama was a Muslim. Is it possible that I was right and he was wrong? As a teacher, you should be able to find plenty of teachable moments in this inauguration that have nothing to do with political partisanship. If you are not good enough to do that, go find another line of work.

This is not like buying a child LL Bean stuff to fit in just for the record. I would rather buy her an outfit this time so she and I would be labeled racist.

The word has gotten out that they are out of money for $40 Government coupons to buy those digital converters. Now somebody else will be stuck with the proper disposal of these things once they quit working.

The stimulous(Obamas) has 120 million alotted for these things if you can believe that.

My God ,how did we wind with this President elect..This country has
gone to the h---.

Doug thanks for the back and I hope to see you tonight at the benefit. Anyway the point made here is that so much hype has been made about the inauguration the children are feeling the pressure from the schools to comply with their wishes. I'm dealing with it first hand and it is a reality that this is being inflated beyond what has ever been done in the past.

Ted seems to me like everything in our country is being inflated more than ever before. The only daughter I have left in school said she hasnt heard anything about it, but Delaware is a different state I quess. Anyhow, she has a friend from school thats about 16 and is the spitting image of Obama, pretty wierd after a few drinks. I call him Barrack and he dont mind. His buddy I call George, he said he dont like his nick-name.

Ted...you are in for ugly surprises when your daughter becomes a teenager if you don't mentor the message to her that it is ok to be ok within her own skin {that god gave her-if that makes anyone feel better}without caving to any of many forms of peer pressure in today's society....trust me. Does she already have any Wu Tang Clan tracks on her Dora The Explorer Ipod yet? I am a rebel before anything else, and if "told" to dress up for EITHER Bob Dole or Obama I still would have worn that Biz Markie T-Shirt {with some Now & Later Gators} I told you about just to rock the boat with "the suits" at school. If she is 7 you STILL have a chance. Bottom line is; this whole "debate" has really turned me off; no matter who started it or is keeping it going...Most of you guys go out of your way to drape yourselves in red, white and blue; so why would you want to appear hypocritical, or "Sore Loser-Mans." I left the DT because of indefensible editorial stances too. This stuff just makes me feel dirty as a Marylander, American and human being. Go Ravens...I'll catch your responses on the flip-side...If you burn me in effigy, at least have the common decency to make sure my feet stay warm in the blaze too..

I work at one of these schools and the students were asked to wear red, white, and blue. Joe did not make this up. And, yes, the students, all of them, will be watching. I understand how a 7 yr old feels about this. She has a right to a choice of this. I am sure Dad will explain everything to the best of his ability. I'm not saying I agree with this, but, we have to deal with situations we don't always like. Good Luck DAD!
GO RAVENS!!

They're not digging them out of storage. There is no 'magic storage depot' where the Board hides technology & equipment waiting to spring it on the unexpected to promote a liberal agaenda.

Three schools just installed interactive white boards in all classrooms and got rid of their TVs. These old TVs are being placed in other classrooms. That's why this person received an older TV; it was in a classroom at (likely WiMiddle, Northwestern, or Westside Primary) until a few weeks ago.

If people would stop and think for a moment, not everything is a conspiracy. Take off the tinfoil hat and THINK, you might be surprised at the results :)

Outsiders looking in and only seeing part of the picture. That is what I think when I read these posts.

As the teacher, I would be glad that my request for equipment in my classroom had finally been met. Not only that, to the commentor who spoke of cable being ran just so the kids could watch the TV on Tuesday, I doubt that. You're saying there wasn't cable in the school at all and the BOE gets cable wired to the whole school just for Tuesday? Hahaha that's B.S. if I ever did smell it.

If they wanted all the kids to watch TV on Tuesday they could have held a school wide assembly in the auditoriums so that it could be watched. The case of running cable it was probably a handful of classrooms that didn't have cable, for whatever reason.
