Description
The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland and the Mid-Shore Regional Council, in cooperation with the Business, Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University and the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC) are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Economic Development/Transportation Planner. Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland will be the employer of record, and the position will be housed at Salisbury University.

The preferred candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and abilities:

• Thorough understanding of economic development concepts and best practices
• Thorough understanding of transportation planning theories and techniques
• Ability to work independently, use significant level of initiative, and function as both a thinker and a doer.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with local governmental and community leaders
• Capacity to develop an understanding of all programs operated from within the two Regional Councils
• Experience with travel demand forecasting, traffic operations analyses and geographic information systems helpful.
• Ability to learn quickly, using a variety of techniques.

If appropriate, the successful applicant will be encouraged to pursue a graduate degree in Business or GIS. The employee will be eligible to receive up to nine credits per semester of free tuition in Salisbury University’s Master of Business Administration and/or Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems & Public Administration programs if admitted. Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with a preference for a degree or certification in Economic Development or in urban and regional planning. Other educational and work backgrounds in transportation engineering, political science, geography, public administration, community development or related disciplines will also be considered. Some experience in a business, local government or regional organization with a job focus on program administration, problem solving or local economic or community development will be helpful. Familiarity with appropriate information technologies; demonstrated capacity for effective written and oral communication; experience with project development and management, and a proven track record of appropriate accomplishments and performance will be required.

this close [-] mike dunn over?? a person that assualts older females by throwing papers in her face,a person that gives away millions in taxpayer funds, a person that quits the councel. a person that insults meeting attendees,a person that chases a former councilman outside chambers and berates him.Just what this program needs.
