Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On October 8, 2008 at approximately 1:01 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to a residence on the seven hundred (700) block of Roger Street for the report of a theft of tools from a vehicle. Upon arrival the officers met with the victim, who had observed a suspect take tools from the rear of his truck. The suspect then fled from the area in a vehicle. The victim was able to describe the suspect’s vehicle, which was located by responding officers. The suspect, listed below, was positively identified by the victim as the suspect caught taking tools from the victim’s vehicle. A search of the suspect’s person, incident to arrest, revealed a smoking device containing suspected cocaine residue.

On October 8, 2008 at approximately 10:25 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident that occurred in August of 2008. At that time, it was reported to the Salisbury Police that a suspect, identified as the below listed suspect, had passed an altered check. The suspect had been given a check then altered the payable amount.

ARRESTED: Jemeare Monyette Williams, 19 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

On October 9, 2008 at approximately 12:58 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident that occurred in September of 2008. At that time, it was reported to the Salisbury Police that a suspect had been involved in the theft of electronics from the Walmart Department Store. The subsequent investigation identified the below listed suspect as responsible for the theft from Walmart.

On October 8, 2008 at approximately 12:36 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations in the area of South Park Drive. The below listed suspect was a passenger in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, the officers observed the suspect to engage in suspicious behavior causing the officers to request a CDS K-9 to check the vehicle. A K-9 from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded and gave a positive indication on the vehicle. The vehicle and occupants were checked and the suspect was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected heroin.

ARRESTED: Allen Wayne Gordy, Jr., 27 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

On October 9, 2008 at approximately 9:10 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident that occurred in July of 2008. At that time, it was reported to the Salisbury Police that while employed at the McDonalds Restaurant on North U.S. Route 13, the suspect had taken an amount of U.S. Currency to make a bank deposit and had failed to make the deposit, keeping the U.S. Currency.

ARRESTED: Brandi Shaniel Griffin, 30 years of age Laurel, Delaware

On October 9, 2008 at approximately 11:59 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Sears Department Store at the Centre at Salisbury for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, the officers met with store security who advised that employees of the store had observed the below listed suspect attempt to take property from the store without making payment. The property was recovered.

On October 9, 2008 at approximately 1:01 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police were on routine patrol in the area of Washington Street. The officers stopped a bicycle in the area for traffic violations and made contact with the below listed suspect. Upon contact with the suspect, the officers detected the scent of suspected marijuana emanating from the suspect’s person. The suspect was checked and found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana and CDS paraphernalia related to the distribution of CDS.

On October 9, 2008 at approximately 1:20 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident that occurred in August of 2008. At that time, it was reported to the Salisbury Police that a suspect had taken a metal storm grate from the roadway of Westwood Drive in the Northwood Industrial Park. Officers were able to locate the storm grate at a local recycling facility and positively identified the below listed suspect as the suspect that sold the stolen storm grate to the recycling company.

Why would a recycling center accept a storm drain grate? That is certainly not an item that just anyone would have laying around. Manhole lids are also being stolen. The recycling centers should be in just as much trouble for accepting these items.
