With the economy in the pooper, Developer Donnie Williams confronted the City Council last night making last minute offers to get this project to move forward before their November 1, 2008 deadline. However, the problem is, the City Council doesn't actually have final say in the offers and or changes.
Donnie kept insisting that the changes that the City is demanding has nothing to do with his development but others within the City disagree. They stated that they told Donnie from the very beginning that if they wanted to do this Development they would have to take care of the downstream improvements because of the overflow it would cause on the City's infrastructure.
They went back and forth for 45 minutes and the Council finally stated they would have to work these matters out with the County.
Donnie said he had been coming to them for four years now jumping through hoops. "We were asked to fix every single problem in the City of Fruitland."

Donnie, you obviously haven't fixed all of the problems in the city of Fruitland. Miciotto is still running an illegal business out of his garage.

As much as we in Salisbury would like to be rid of Barrie Tilghman, she could not be the mayor of Fruitland, which does not have the mayoral system, but instead has the much better "city manager" form of government.
Before Rick Pollitt was elected as the Wicomico County Executive, he was Fruitland's City Manager.

The man told me years ago that "children would interfere with my business plan".
How about something new: developers just follow the policies as written. No exceptions. Read the policies, do what they say. The end. No having to fix downstream, no having to take care of the infrastructure they're going to ruin. Local governments should just tell them no in the beginning.
Donnie needs to take his good friend Lynn Cathcart down to Fruitland and get her on their council, he'll get anything he wants. GAR ON TEED.
