ow convienient to take a break! Have you read the Daily Times? Isn't it about time your sidekick over at the Sheriff's Department hire some minorities? How embarressing it is to know Mike Lewis has 137 officers and only 14 Black officers! The Salisbury Police Department has 134 officers ans 40 are Black. Now if this was the Salisbury Fire Department, you would be all over it right? Remember Mr. Cropper or do you have a selective memory? Also if this were the Salisbury Police Department, you would be all over it right? Remember the Daily Times came through with this news FIRST and you won't see it on Salisbury News! How convienient Joe! You are a disgrace to the community....your followers will never pick up on this because they don't think outside of your little box!

Mike Lewis inherited his Staff what, 2 years ago? I know Mike, FIRE ALL of the White Officers and replace them with Black Officers because some Idiot says so.
Mike Lewis has hired Black Officers, Idiot. Secondly, how dare you compare Mike Lewis to Flip & Flop, See & Gordy, who have been on the job NOT hiring Blacks for more than a decade.
As for the Salisbury Police Department, GOOD FOR THEM! There aren't many things I agree with the Chief on but this is one I am proud of him for.
Joe, while you were taking a break, the newspaper published a front page article about minorities in police work here on the Shore. Please note on page A2 that a number of stats are provided for minorities in local police agencies. It says that SPD has 40 black employees! Even if you count the custodians, secretaries and the like, there are MAYBE 15. And it also prints the stats to look as though SPD has 130+ police officers. Completely wrong. They have about 90 sworn officers, and when you take out the administrators, maybe 60 or 70 that actually answer calls. No wonder the council won't approve requests for additional officers, with numbers like those to go by. Joe, please do some research and lets see if you can get the stats right.
