Please let us know 1 thing that this chief has done to help our community? Any big arrests? Any lowering of crime? The reason Sherriff Lewis get good PR is because he walks the walk. He doesn't sit behind a desk and hope that crime will go done on it's own. He doesn't ride around hoping the bad guys will flag him down and jump in the back seat. He gets out on the street with his fellow offcers and leads by example! He makes arrests and puts criminals behind bars. I have been all over the country and the world, and this is the first city I've been to where the sherriff's office is a better force than the city PD. I have friends that work in all three police agencies and I get first hand knowledge of what's going on. Salisbury officers are overworked and underpaid. Most leave as soon as possible. The ones that do stay either can't move on or they put their committment to duty above their own personal needs. The officers of SPD are not the problem, it's the leadership. I have yet to see any leadership out of Webster. Maybe Sherriff Lewis can give some training to him. Remember, the SPD only have the city limits to patrol, state and sherriff has the whole county including city limits. It's kind of like doing your work, plus somone elses who is slacking!
there is a big differance between negative news and the truth, regaurdless of how unpleasant it is to hear. the officials that control salisbury have failed in about every area possible. this includes the chief. salisbury has been run into the ground by these so called officials. salisbury is the center of the eastern shore and all other areas will tend to follow her. you people have ruined this town and should be held responsible for it,(with more than just words in my opinion). get out and let some real people try to run and save salisbury.

To whom ever wrote this rubbish. Joe's photos of the chief are usually taken during business hours of the city. Why is the top level manager of a department riding around instead of working? He has managers reporting to him with managers that report to them to check up on things the worker bees (patorl officers) are doing, he should trust his management to do that job. If he wants to get out of the office it should be for major crime investigations. Where was he when the bodies have been found around Salisbury? Was he there? Was he making a statment for a press conference? Your comparison to Mike Lewis does not hold water as Mike works day and night. Day time manager night time caped crusaader making bust talking to the press and raising morale of his department. Webster is more like Wally from Dilbert. He is always around but has never produced any effective results.

You cannot compare the CHIEF to Mike Lewis. Mike is a real leader who leads by example. He is on the front lines and knows what is going on. His men follow him and would do anything for him. Crime is down in the County and its because of Mike's proactive approach. Crime in the City is steadily rising, with no real plan in sight. Many officers never see the Chief or have ever talked to him. Morale is about as low as it could get and most officers want to leave for the Sheriif's Dept. or the State P.D.
It seems odd to me that the Chief is so often photographed while traveling near 300 W. Main St. It is also strange that there is a camera across the street. There is no real crime down there. Why isn't there a camera on the corner of W. Main and Delaware Ave. The drug dealers are there everyday and night.
I think I can sum it up in one phrase. "FOLLOW THE LEADER" Mr. Albero has chosen to follow Mike Lewis and its his right to point out inadequasies in our government. I think I have pointed out some obvious differences between the two men. Keep up the good work Mike.

Until berryville dumps their arrogant, self serving, dictatorial mayor and her lacky chief webster the town will never be Salisbury as many remember it.
Your exposure, maybe a little self serving at times, does a great service exposing them for what and who they are.
webster could care less about the city,as long as he can troll around in his company car. Attend every function he can no matter how near or far, all being paid for by the city taxpayer.
Hopefully the new Mayor will consider a Chief with local roots who choses to live in the City he/she serves. There are many qualified individuals waiting for the opportunity to both serve the City and bring better cooperation with the other law enforcement agencies of the Eastern Shore.

It would probably be difficult for Joe to find anything positive to report about the Chief. On the other hand it is very easy to find out good things that Mike Lewis has done. There's a big difference between the two men. By the way, does Webster even live anywhere near Salisbury, I believe I see him in Somerset County almost daily. Most municipalities would require their Chief of Police to live within a resonable distance of where they work.

Joe want the citizens to see something sad. I just saw a Salisbury Police Vehicle, hubcabs missing/center caps, vehicle sounded like a tank, scratches all around bumper cracked and it didn't even look that old. i would be fearful to ride in one of those things. it's sad to see how nasty it was compared to some of the other agencies that I have seen. What's worse is it seems to be the entire lot of police cars is like that.

In all objective fairness....
I've met Mike Lewis on perhaps 2 occasions ever and exchanged emails with him on a police-related subject once and he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. You can tell he genuinely is a good person and cares about helping his community.
As for the cheif.... I've never met him and I know nothing about him, so I can't say my opinions on him. From his point of view, I'm sure it is a pain in the ass to have his picture snapped at every opportunity and then blogged. (Sorry, Joe, but I think if you were blogging my picture half as much, I'd be irritated as hell! Then again, I am in no way a public figure and don't try to be.) But if he loves the attention as much as this complaint is saying and cares so little about this blog, then what is the point? If he likes the publicity, then there should be no complaint that he's getting it.
Joe is not the ONLY source of information or opinions in this town and he certainly doesn't claim to be. Its obvious that Joe doesn't like the chief, and at the top of this blog is the phrase, "This blog is opinionated only" or something to that affect. By reading this blog, you are reading Joe's opinions. If you disagree, you disagree. That is your right. Posting opinions is Joe's right (and is yours too, if you were to take advantage of that right as well).
If you're tired of reading mad press on any person that pops up in this blog, then just stop reading the blog. It really is as easy as that.
I too think that Joe you are a little over the top a little with this. However, the chief does not care about this city, never has, doesn't live here, refused to live here as was one of the conditions of him being hired. Crime has gone up, we went from the 22nd worst place to live to the 11th. Hurrah Chief. FYI Chief Webster does not work with anyone, he has poor relationships with all the other leaders in this area (besides Barry because she owes him for her daughter) so he wouldnt work with Joe if Joe came and gave everything to him on a silver platter. That is the Baltimore way, we got what we paid for. Baltimore ways = more crime and a worse place to live since he came here. It worked so well in Baltimore huh. Please Chief move on, if not please vote Barry out so the next person can clean SPD up.
Face the facts chief is out for himself and himself alone. Either deal with it and stay being overworked and underpaid and ill equiped or move on to bigger agencies with better qualities in the 3 areas that i listed. Why do you think so many made the move to either state or county as opposed to staying at SPD. Not because good officers are not there, because the only ones willing to stay longer than a minute is the ones who can kiss the ass the best or have been there when SPD was premerie and have too much time to leave, or the ones that fall victim to the propaganda of "improvements are coming".

Crime, lack of jobs, lack of future companies looking at this city because of our crime rating. PLEASE WAKE UP and call your representatives and speak out, we need to fix the police department, we need a new chief/major/captain. We need change, things can't go this way any further, we are in trouble please check the stats for yourself, talk to the city officers, don't take my word do your own research. Mike is in front of a camera because Mike is out there catching the bad guys. Chiefy is in front of the PAC 14 camera when Barrie tells him to be. HUGE difference. Your chiefy is a bush league, rent a cop. I've seen security guards do more investigative work than he has done since he came to Salisbury. He couldn't catch a cold if he stood naked in Alaska, let alone a criminal.
Two observations:
Sheriff Shorty kisses up to avoid any bad publicity.

Sheriff Lewis is the architecht of MSP's PACE unit(Proactive Criminal Enforcement)...what in the F--- is the chief the architecht of beside higher crime in Salisbury??
Internal affairs... investigate why and who is giving Joe info instead of crimes that effect the community. I think the resources should be spent elsewhere from the crime rates, but what do I know as a concerned citizen in Salisbury.
