If it was a Chevy it wouldn't handle the extra weight. The axle might break and it wouldn't be able to move out of it's own way.
This looks very dangerous to me. There is quite a bit of slack in the securing lines and just what is keeping that platform on the truck? Also, why would you be caring two of these someplace? Isn't one enough, not to mention all the wasted gasoline on these things.

Since when do ATV's have license plates?
I wouldn't transport our 2 ATV's this way. We have one in the bed of our truck and one on a trailer. That would scare me driving down the road.
1st, one tie down does look loose I will mention it.
2nd. there are over a dozen tiedowns holding both the carriage
and the ATV's in place.
The carriage itself is 2 steel frames welded together. the bottom is inside the bed where it is tiedown. the plateform which can be 8 ft is only 7' 11".
The reason my son-in-law built this is so he can also pull a trailer/camper.

How do you get the ATV's on there and in the back of the truck bed?
who ever posted "since when do ATV's have licences plates" Look closer. You would see that they're for PA. In that state you need 'em to go on the trails. MD only need a sticker
He has a 12' aluminum ramp but it is very steep but that is what these are made for.
He has sway bars built in and extra support baring an accident with another vehicle it is safe.
He did this after hauling two trailers four wheeler and camper. He also has a go cart his mom uses. He goes out with his two brothers one with a go cart the other a four wheeler and their wives on occasion.
Extensive checking with law enforcement before construction and constructed stronger than kits that were available for sale. Frame is all steal.
This is Patrick. It‘s my truck that you see. I want to get everyone’s questions answered so hear we go.
1. Q. Tie straps loose?
A. What you see in the picture is the end of the strap left over when strap is tied down. There are 4 cargo straps used on the ATV’s. to hold them to the rack. The straps are on the underside. One strap pulling forward and one pulling backward to keep the atv from moving at all. Also the ATV's parking break I keep on. The rack is held to the truck by 4 turnbuckle's one in each corner hooked to the trucks cargo hooks. When tight the rack can not move.
2. Q Why. would you be caring two of these someplace?
A. 1. Someone never went to boy scouts. Always ride in pairs. One is mine the other one is for my wife. When ridding an ATV you should always have someone with you in case of a problem. You should never ride by your self. (By the way the truck holds 6 people. So I guess the next rack I build will have to hold 6 atv’s so everyone can ride.) HA HA

A. Most of the time when we ride we pull the 2 ATV’s and are popup camper. If I did not have the rack I would have to take 2 cars. This would use a lot more gas. It is also nice to have someone to talk to on the road.
4. Q. How do you get the ATV's on there and in the back of the truck bed?
A. To load I use a set of 10' folding ramps. The ramps are hooked to the truck to prevent the ramps from moving. And then I drive up. There is a stop build in to the rack to prevent the avt from going to far forward. Future item would include a winch installed to the rack to pull the atv’s up.
5. Q. since when do ATV's have licenses plates?
A. Different states require different items. We are licensed in MD and PA. The fees are very cheep. And both MD and PA have very nice and safe state owned trails for ATV’s to ride. The cost of the license go to pay to the trails to be kept in good shape.
6. Q. The rack
A. The rack is made out of steel welded and bolted together. The base is made from stl. angle. The supports are stl. tubes. The top is made with stl. angle. And the deck is plywood. All stl. is painted with truck bed liner. A lot of testing and design went into the rack to make is safe.
The rack gets me a lot of looks and a lot of questions. I like to push the envelope, and designed this item to make life a little easer when on the road.
