Who's The Bumbling Idiot Who Designed This Stupidity?

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to visit Isabella Street, here's what they did to it recently.

While I was there, NOT ONE vehicle swerved in and around this Indy Track, they all drove over the yellow lines and stayed straight down the road anyway.

Please don't tell me Comegys had something to do with this stupidity? I know Michael Day, (former Council Member) influenced this idiotic, stupid, ridiculous plan. It kind of reminds me of the Mayors idea for the Downtown Plaza. Oh, that failed too, right Barrie!

I'm begging someone to please step up to the plate and tell me ONE thing Barrie Tilghman has done good for the Citizens of Salisbury. I've seen her piss away more money on stupid amateur ideas and people aren't flipping her the finger enough in disgust.

OK, so now four Fire Trucks are driving down this STUPID road, where do you go? I've been told that even Chief See said they don't give a crap, they're driving over the curbs no matter what! That's one of the best things I've ever heard come out of his mouth, (allegedly) as a leader.

Well, you know my thoughts on this STUPID idea, what's your thoughts now that you've seen it?

The mare and Michael Gay, I mean Day!

Does anyone know how much this waste cost the city tax payers.

i guess they had to put those goofy curbs in because people were just running over the sticks they had set up before.

Anonymous said...

It doesn’t look like those curbs are handicap / wheelchair friendly.
The purpose of this crazy idea was to “calm” traffic or I guess they meant to slow down traffic.
Do you think they could have kept it straight and put in several “speed photo capture cameras” which may have slowed most traffic and also brought in “fine money” from violators?

Why don't they replace curbs that are in crumbles. And when are those handicap accesses on city sidewalks gonna be completed?

What a complete WASTE of time, money and personnel!!!!!

Actually that would be a stupid comment to come out of anyone's mouth. A large truck responding at a high rate of speed would blow out a tire ultimately causing a serious accident. Either head on to a car carrying an unsuspecting family and killing all of them or flipping over and killing all of the firefighters inside. This design has got to be ignorant and dangerous and it is going to cause several serious accidents. You have already seen people driving down the yellow line. It's just a matter of time, just wait and see.

If you research info on the best methods to slow residential traffic the use of strategically placed speed bumps have proven one of the best ways to control speeding. Imagine the cost savings in this situation.

This is just one of my many pet peeves with the city mayor and her FOB's. When this first started, Jennie Cleary, Kathy Day and Michael Day and I am sure there were others went to the mayor and said they wanted the street closed so she said OK. Well the bussiness of Isabella Street got together and hired a lawer at the tune of over $50,00.00 and fought them on this. Let me tell you it got nasty, but never the less we got the street open again, so this there way of getting us back for what we did. But they made themself look stupid in the long run. I see people try to see how fast they can go down that street just because of this. So chalk another bad move up to Barrie and her friends.

Are you telling me this was the Mayor's Retarded idea?

Please, just let me know it was her. I'm DYING to blast her on PAC 14 in front of every Citizen in Salisbury. Please tell me it's so?

The mayor and the aformentioned group, especially Michael day.

Believe it Joe, we were there with our checkbooks wide open.

You don't even have to cross the yellow. If you can drive well enough, you can drive straight through without crossing the lines or bumping the curbs. This also depends of size of car, mine is a Hyundai Santa Fe.

i had the PLEASURE of driving down this race track, and it is the dumbest thing I have just ABOUT ever seen. Try driving down this road with a large trailer behind u, aint happening.

And why again were they put in? Slow down, wow, wat a great idea. couldn't of thought of a better idea!!! LMAO. leave it to barrie, she knows everything haha.

wats next, spike strips that pop out of the road if your breaking the speed limit???? rofl

That is just about the stupidest mess I have seen in a long time.

Ive scene the fire engines make a straight line out of this area.
One firefighter from station 2 told me they were told not to drive down this stretch for their own safety.

It must be working, unless there is a fire on that street there is no need for a fire truck to be traveling on Isabella St.

Too bad this money wasn't used on the WWTP

I thought this picture was absurd when you first posted it; but now that I have been drinking and listening to a Bob Marley album I am looking at it again and the road looks straighter.

Yeh, Joe, it was a plain old stupid waste of money, which I believe someone said was a grant. The granting agency should be very proud of the mess they made of a perfestly good straight steet. Though I must admit it looks pretty, just is not functional!
I believe the grant was for over $80,000. To make it all even worse, I believe the city resurfaced the entire street out of tax dollars. Hell my street has needed repaving for years and nothings been done, but then I'm not an FOB.

That's an accident waiting to happen. I can see a lot of older people failing to negoiate and tearing up a front end. Would have been better (and a lot cheaper) to have just done speedbumps.

Nice brick work I might add, they doing that all over town? I thought this was a tight budget year? There are plenty of kids around here, people speed on this street just as bad. I guess some peoples children are more important than others.

If the bridge is up they have no choice but to use Isabella

Yet another reason why Salisbury missed out on 12-15K in state grant money.

Berlin, Princess Anne and 18 other towns got "Main Street Maryland" money but Salisbury - which was indeed eligible, because the city already has the MSM designation - did NOT, and I wonder if anyone from Sby even applied for the FREE money.

I thought it was a trap for drunk drivers, can you imagine a drunk driver trying to navigate that. With one beer I could not drive that, I almost had a seizure looking at it.

IDIOTS, all of them are IDIOTS!

Barrie painted those lines on her way home from Market St Inn

Please send these photos to Jay Leno so Salisbury can get the attention it deserves on national television!

they've done similar things to roads like isabella st. in the annapolis and eastport area to "calm" traffic.

Is this Salisbury's idea of regentrification of its historic neighborhoods? How sad and pathetic.

Anonymous said...

I don't go that way anymore. I took my grandmother through there and she thought she was on a roller coaster. She is 92 tears old and it made her dizzy. If I have to take her through there again I will make sure I give her some AIRBORNE

Katie, in case you haven't been told, this ain't Annapolis or Eastport!!!

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS FARCE WAS PAID FOR BY OUR STATE TAX MONEY. IT IS STILL A WASTE!!

Mr/Ms 2:38

Actually Barrie painted the stripe on the way to that watering hole, where they call Matt to take her home at closing time.

And you wonder why salisbury has no money. This is idiotic, and simply dangerous, how many lives is this gonna cost?

ANON 8:56 HAS HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD! Speed bumps would have been an effective answer...not an SCCA road course. Fools and money are soon parted ...or taxed too death!

There are soooooooooooomany comments. I have one thing to say

I worked for Transportation Authorities for many years, there are plans for traffic "calming" that are magnificent, and work. This is without a doubt the epitomy of Barry Tilghman's administation. It is a disgrace, and I was almost killed head on by someone in a van not able to navagate the cork screw. Does that last word tell you how the citizens are being treated? I am so ashamend I cuold cry. I know the transportation folks all over the country are having a belly laugh over this one. She wants to be famous, well this is it, famous for outright stupidity.

Apparently, the new street design has messed up some cars. Living on N. Poplar Hill, I have woken up to cars parked on my street with the tires blown out. As far as the fire engines told not to use Isabella - I have not seen that. They go up and down that street all day.

Anonymous said...

This costly project just like the previous one IS NOT for slowing traffic!! if they wanted to calm traffic, they'd abandon the street like all the other city streets...and let the pot holes slow everyone down!

I don't want to be the snow plow driver on that road!

Just a prime example of self-serving legislation that was started by Day and BPT it was no secrete that he was pissed not to be able to exit his driveway onto Isb. st.(even thou he had a back alley access that let him egress from a side st.) when this whole mess started. I agree that two full size p/u's will have a accident sooner or latter tring to manuver thru this mess
