Urgent Urgent Urgent! If You Want to Salvage Any of Your Privacy You Must Call Your Congressmen Tomorrow!

Have you heard of FISA?

It is the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act which is essentially the fight over surveillance of American Citizens that continues in Washington.

Rumors have it that House leadership may be working hand in hand with Senator Jay Rockefeller who is leading the cause of granting immunity to telecommunications companies to essentially eviscerate the constitution and allow spying on American Citizens...

Fear Mongering is the bait that Congress is throwing in front of Americans to convince us to throw away every single civil liberty we have, and we as Americans CANNOT allow this to happen!

This bill that is being rushed and almost secretly pushed through Congress in order to vacuum up all of our telecommunications privacy.

It is imperative that you call your representative tomorrow, and let them know that they cannot allow this to happen. Don't neglect your civil duty and ignore this very very important issue!

When you call, say something like this:

I am a constituent calling about H.R. 6304, the Hoyer/Bush FISA Deal. I urge you to vote "NO" because:

1. The Hoyer/Bush FISA deal allows for mass and untargeted surveillance of Americans’ communications.

2. The Hoyer/Bush FISA deal contains blanket immunity, virtually guaranteeing lawsuits against telecom companies will be dismissed. Ongoing lawsuits may be our last best hope of exposing the extent of illegal spying.

3. If leadership will not lead, it is the responsibility of every lawmaker to lead on this issue. You need to do what your constituents and the American people demand. Bowing to pressure from Republicans and Democrats alike , the White House, and the telecommunications companies is unacceptable.

4. If you want my vote in the future you will uphold the constitution and not allow this completely unconstitutional bill to be passed!

Of course, Gilcrest does not care one bit about re-election, since he is a lame duck already.

They won't be spying on YOU Wymzie. And not any of your friends, or family, or anyone you know. They are focusing their attention on those who are communicating from the US to the suspect terrorist locations abroad. Would you rather these murderers be allowed to plan the next 9/11 right under our noses as before?

If you would like to know how and with what the feds use to due the monitoring with then do some google searches on “carnivore” and or (DCS 1000) Data Collection Systems 1000. They don’t want you to know about this,

Come out from under the ether!! We are happily giving away our civil rights every day.
Freedom is not free, but I'm not paying with my privacy.
In the wrong hands this information and these rules will royally screw each and every one of us go to the sites anon6:05 suggests.
I am sick of watching normally sane Americans believe the fear that we are being dished out every day.
Call, Mikulski!
I fit the profile of 'enemy of the state' because I question authority.
Don't be fooled, by the bi-partisan effort to strip us of all of our rights, out of fear of another attack.
If they wanted to truly protect us they would shut down the borders, and deport everyone from countries that harbor terrorists! Not give telecom companies authority to listen to our conversations.

anon 1:20 one of the "groups" they were allowed to spy on post 9/11 were people who e-mailed out of the country. Didn't matter to what country you sent an e-mail, if it was out of country you could be tagged.
So, got any Canadian friends?,English,Australian,Italian,Mexican? You're tagged.
Also there's a good post at the Washington Post on this if you want to look into it more. The vote is at 2 today.

The people that planned 9/11 live in caves and communicate through 1000 year old techniques. Listening to phone calls would not have stopped it.

Even NBC news reported this week that a cell in the US was nabbed because we were able to track emails and phone conversations. Ask someone from another country that lives here if they are worried about thier "freedoms". Can anyone tell me if they have been personally affected by this? I didnt think so.

I called everyone on the list and each of the assistants thanked me for my input and were very pleasant.
Each of them also clarified how I wanted each of the representatives to vote; yes or no.

Let's hope it didn't pass!
