Iris Society Show


The Eastern Shore Iris Society will be holding their annual show this Saturday,May 10th in the J.C.Penneys court at the Centre at Salisbury.Open to all iris growers,entries will be accepted from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Vases will be provided by iris society. Judging takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Show will be open to the public until 4 p.m. For more information call 410-860-0893 or 410-334-2344

The only one you need is iris versicolor, the native "blue flag" iris.

We will be offering Spuria irises for sale. They will make great Mother's Day gifts and are a real bargain at $4 each. They will be available fresh and grower-direct. We can't guarantee varieties, although all will be named. They usually sell for 3 for $25. They grow in large clumps and bloom after the tall bearded varieties. They make great cut flowers, too.

I did plan on taking a few from my garden but the wind and rain basically "grounded" them. Will still attend the show - just without the iris's that I planned to show. This year they seem exceptional pretty - but also very heavy, Guess all the rain helped them along earlier.
