Spin it any way you want, the Theater is a load of crap! These guy actually stood there and stated that this design fit in with the Historical Society Guidelines, PLEASE! It looks more like Camden Yards to me!
Then, being very slick, Bill Ahtes & James Gillespie (?) announced they were neutral and not affiliated with any group and or this project. Looks like Ahtes and that Arts Group doesn't want to be recognized for the failure they had at the Boulevard Theater and the scam that went on there.
Nevertheless, this is a BS project and it's simply another attempt to get Waterfront Property for free and or next to nothing. Look at this thing Ladies & Gentlemen, is this what YOU want Downtown?
When I stood up to speak and express I was interested in PURCHASING the building and that I would restore it back to its original state, only TWO Council Members would actually look at me and look me in the eyes. The rest lowered their heads and looked at paperwork, not mine, because I didn't bring any.
You'll notice in today's Daily Times, there's NO mention of my offer. The Tilghman Times Spin Machine is back in full swing Ladies & Gentlemen. DON'T let the Public/Taxpayers know there are any other offers out there and certainly don't let them know those people stood up and spoke out PUBLICLY because that would ruin their scam.
I'll state this FOR THE RECORD. I flat out asked the Council AND Gary Comegys on PAC14, does the property that goes from the Fire House to the river come with the property? Comegys said, NO! Look at these drawings Folks. You Tell Me, WHY would these people go through ALL that trouble having these drawings done IF that property doesn't come with it.
Gary Comegys IS A LIAR and this City will do ANYTHING to SCREW the Taxpayer, ESPECIALLY when it comes to this Fire Department and the BS scams they keep pulling off.

Frank Brady works for Atlantic Design and more than likely did the designs on his own. Not that it makes a difference compared to the weasels buddy Memo Dirikers non-study study that was presented.
Joe, We have fault with the historical committee for years over making modifications to this building never having success. According to this committee not exterior changes or modifications can be made to the building what so ever. If I recall correctly years ago there was a push on to replace the red bay doors with a modern set of doors to illuminate the costly repair issues with the current doors. Needless to say the fire department was quickly shot down making looks more important the functionality. Typically when a part breaks on the door it has to be made or shipped across country living the door out of service for weeks at a time.
Those doors were never out of service for "weeks" at a time.
If the Historic Commission allows any changes to the building they need to be relieved of their positions.
I wonder if there is any conflict of interest as Memo Diriker advocates for an arts group to get this building while Dr. Veronique Diriker sits as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for SWAC.
That design looks terrible. Doesn't anyone around here know how to design a building that looks like it belongs in a historic district. I never will understand how the state got away with slapping stucco all over the old department store turned state offices downtown.
That design looks to me like they tore the entire firehouse down(that the city wants to donate?)and built from scratch. Am I mistaken, here? Is this the restoration of the main firehouse? If so, tell me #1 I give them the firehouse and #2 I get my taxes raised to cover building another building?
Again--get this city government in order before approving any new business of a non-urgent matter. Fix the necessities like infrastructure first before the luxuries, and most importantly--Stop picking my pockets.
I thought that anything bought and paid by taxpayers money, in the event of no longer being used by gov. was to be auctioned to the highest bidder. Like surplus from the BOE is done. They cannot sell or give away on their own.
Those doors have been out of service for two weeks at a time. Typically the down time is usually within one week. I've been there plenty long enough to know.
Joe check out how many ft of rocks that have been dumped in the river in front of the lastest condos.It must be at least 10 feet of the Wicomico river lost. When that rainwate discharge pipe they are gonna have a birds eye view of the trash that will floating by. Good for them
I like the second picture. Not only are they going to rebuild the firehouse, but look at that sparkling clean Wicomico River. I might be tempted to drink the water if they can get it that clean.
They can't give away what belongs to the cities tax payers. We bought and furnished this building with our tax dollars, so how come they can just give away what belongs to us. Best it be sold to the highest bidder, beginning with Joe's offer.

First, the SHDC (Salisbury Historic District Commission) has held a high standard as it relates any changes on Station 16. Yes, they denied changes to the exterior doors as well as the most recent attempt to remove the lights to place in the fireman's new museum to be housed at their new location. The SHDC acted appropriately and will continue to do so. This building is a significant structure and should not be altered "unless" it could be one on a side or rear elevation with a "HIGH" level of sensitity to the structure in an attempt to accomodate an adaptive reuse. As for the current "proposal" featured on this blog-completed by AES - I would be ashamed to be the architect involved regardless of the fact it is an historic district. In fact, going forward - if I were a principal in that firm-I would take the "A" out of "AES" for fear I would be sued for false advertisement. That proposal simply put-leaves me speechless and would never be approved by ANY entity challenged with design standards let alone the SHDC.

FYI --
The "AES-Architech" firm is imploding -- key personnel leaving almost en mass. Their building (former city police headquarters) is for sale.
Did the Historic Commission approve of them removing the bell from Station 16?
I don't know if it's original to the building and was okay to do so?
Just wondering. Don't know the answer.

That is one HORRIFIC design. I would NEVER attend a production there, just out of disgust.
